RE: Where to have Fishin.com tournament

Guess you're right Tony. Nolin has lotsa fish in it, but mostly slots. Ya have fun catching fish at Nolin even though the big fish are few and far between. Heck I don't mind winning with a 2 lbr.
There's a nice pavilion next to the parking lot at Wax. Can't remember if there's a free one at Mautardier (Moody deere) or
not. All I can think of is the campground which is pay to enter
and no pavilian. Need feedback on that.

Also folks, this is a "everyman for himself tournament", no partners. You can fish with a partner but no sharing fish, that's a no no.

    See ya at Nolin folks.

You are correct Francis, this is a BIG Fish Tournament. Meaning that it's every man (or Woman) for themselves.
You can fish with a partner in the boat, but each person only gets to weigh 1 legal fish. Only 1 fish per competator can be brought to scales. You must cull on the water,as you'll only have 1 chance to weigh in.

is this the way yall allways run the "fishin.com tournament" or is this just a suggastion. speaking for my self i like 5 fish no slots. this lets you figerout a pattern and go with it , instead lucking into a big fish and winning on that one fish alone. dont get me wrong i will fish any format yall chose, but i am voting for 5 fish no slots

    what yall thank??

yall stay cool and keep your hands wet

I like the 5 fish format with a partner. I would like to fish this T with my wife. It would be a good chance to get away and get her involved with the sport of T fishing. I think it would be more than competive. I think the central areas are still the best places. Nolin, Rough and Barren with slot fish allowed so I could weigh in a fish and not let my wife steal my thunder. Just my 2 cents Ryan.

Why Big Fish T.... Jim and Peter!!!

I thought I would give a little background on this get together and tournament.

We started about 5 years ago trying to organize a get together and some fishing. It took three years to really get it to happen. I've even suggested, on many occasions, we start a fishin.com circuit, which would satisfy a lot of what we are reading in many of these responses.

What we wanted to have was a get together so we could all meet. The tournament was secondary, not primary. We have a lot of non-tourney fisherpeople here, and we wanted to include everyone.

Think about the creek fisher folks, and all the non-boaters. That was one of the ways we settled on Barren. Jim stepped up and reserved the pavillion for us, and it was at the dam. That way, we lakers could fish there, and the creekers could fish the spillway. Also, we wanted it to be very family friendly, not a cut throat competition.

That last sentence is what led us to come up with it being a shroter than normal tourney, it dictated that it be a daytime tourney (family friendly) and the cook out, and we also made the entry very inexpensive and only a one fish weigh in.

The first one, we even discussed having a little fishing tourney for the creekers and those who wanted to fish from the bank.

Jim really deserves a whole lot of credit for stepping up and providing door prizes, food, and taking the lead in getting the pavillion.

Now since I am currently not working, I have a lot more flexibility to help out, but much, much less money to say stay over night somewhere.

That last sentence is what has always kept us at Barren. It was the most accessable to everyone, so no one really had to be imposed upon to spend the night.

Jim and Peter... As I said, I am currently unemployeed, so if there is anyway I can help, please let me know.

    Danny

RE: Why Big Fish T.... Jim and Peter!!!

Danny, I can always use help. I am not sure when I am going to stop driving the big rig. As you can see I was not even aware of this posting series. I want to try to stop around first of April.
It would help if all you guys who travel would use our Hotel and Motel Reservation system as often as possible.
I am even going to get us a Priceline Affiliate so that you can get Hotels, Motels, Airline, and Car rentals at discounts. Also buying from the links to Landbigfish.com and Bills Tackle help the site and help to pay me.
If I can get free I can spend a ton more time answering questions, getting more reports, (Kentucky Reports and Tennessee have fallen in quality and number over the last 2 years and I do feel guilty about that.. but the internet is not as big with our guides here and getting info on lakes smaller than 5,000 acres is really tough. Smaller State Lakes I can get info from the dock guys IF they have time..
I am proud of our Florida, Georgia and Texas Reports but that does not help you guys here in Kentucky where we started. I do want to improve our Kentucky Information and links and I hope to get back to doing that in the near future.
As for your help.. YES, my cell number is available to you.. just send me an email and I will give it to you.

    Jim
