Who the heck is Charlie Moore?

Why does he have a show, And why in the world does nobody beat this guy? He's a Bostonian for goodness sakes, How in the heck can a New Englander out angle a southern boy on their home lake...It baffles the mind.

Charlie Moore??? He must be able to fish better than the camera eye reveals. I think I could beat him, Get him on T-Ville and seperate the men from the loudmouths.

    RE: He's a chicken****!

Stal his wife?? Is that what you kids are calling it these days Bill?? LOL

Actually, Charlie Moore has been on TV for many, many years. His show is shown on NESN, which is New England Sports Network. He bills himself as the "mad-fisherman" and then he lives the part. The thing is this, his show is the new formula that is more about the yelling (Ike like) and entertainment. In fact, I saw Charlie Moore on satellite acting like this long before I ever heard of Ike.

Bill, I challenged him as well, but I think he tries to go for ex-celeberities, not us everyday guys.

RE: Who the heck is Charlie Moore?

That is one show I do not watch anymore. I liked the first few episodes I saw about bass fishing, but when it went to saltwater fishing and the like, I lost interest. He seems to be a cool guy. And he does "Ike it up" a bit, which is fun, but I find it hard to believe he is undefeated. Bring him to Ky Lake with a 15" limit in late July, he might cry all the way home!! $5000 short.

    You have to be joking!

First of all, what does being from Boston or New England have to do with an anglers skill level? If you think there isn't any bass fishing up there you are dead wrong!

I'm originally from New England and I can tell you first hand, the fishing is fantastic, fresh water or salt! The Mass. state record LM bass is 15+ lbs., thats bigger than some of the southern and mid west states if I'm not mistaken, including the state I now call home, Kentucky. And the Smallmouth record is 8+ as well, (I actually saw the state record SM an hour after it was caught at Wachusettes Reservoir in Mass), those are real toads in anyones book!

There are world class fisheries in NE, ever heard of Champlain or Lake Winnipisaukie? Champlain has been called one of the Top Ten in the US by Bassmaster and some of the Pros put it even higher.

Winni is an unbelievable smallmouth fishery, many TV pros have done shows about it, Billy Westmoreland, Hank Parker, Bill Dance, Roland Martin to name a few. I can tell you from first hand experience, in the spring 50-100 fish days are not out of the ordinary. And I'm not talking about 1-2 pounders, my personal best at Winni was a 6-13 SM caught in the 1992 ABA Nationals only to be beat by an angler named Rick Lillegard (now a BASS Pro) with a 6-15 SM (I still hate him LOL)!

You go to NE and try to fish in those gin clear waters and bring fish to the scale under Tournament conditions on a regular basis and see how you do. Think Dale Hollow or Laurel Lakes waters are clear? That water is stained compared to the gin clear waters of most of the lakes back there. I have seen SM swimming on the bottom in 20ft of water so clear it looked no deeper that 5ft deep! I am talking about tap water clear guys, no lie! Seems logical to me that making the leap from fishing waters that clear (and barren of any wood to boot) to the stained waters on most of the southern impoundments would be a much easier adjustment. And I found that to be true when I moved here, I could use heavier lines, rely more on sound and vibration rather than sight, not to mention the abundance of shallow cover that is practically non existent in those natural lakes in NE where any wood rotted away decades ago. Back there you had to be good at deep water structure fishing or you were not in the hunt or even close to the money on any of the T's, with the exception of spring T's. Oh yeah, did I mention, outside of Massachusettes you cant even Bass fish in the spring until the spawn is over? Thats right no easy pickings spring bass patterns to rely on, post spawn, summer and fall patterns only!

I'm not defending Charlie Moore, whether you like Charlie Moore or Ikes antics is up to each individual, some don't others do. They are not my cup of tea, I'm more traditional, but who am I to judge others. A few of my old buddies back in NE who have fished against CM on some of the NE trails tell me he can flat out fish! But to pass judgement on any anglers skill level because of his actions and/or especially the geographical location where he calls home is absurd!

Can't spell "happily" either---LOL!!!!!!Just playin' with ya!
I always wondered who he was anyway? I was trying to figure out how he got his show. But, Danny basically answered it. It would be fun to fish against him on some local waters. Hey Bill---The KY River would be a challenge for him---wouldn't it?

Not that I can spell myself mind ya. I was just messin' with Bill too.

Hey, back when I lived in Orlando, and drove a milk truck, we had a saying about stealing another man's wife. Being this is a family board, I can't repeat it. LOL

It's just been so long since I even considered wanting a different woman (Like Bill, very happily married) that it just took me by surprise.

Certainly hope no offense was taken.

Now as to the guy who got offended at our judging someone's fishing based upon geography. I have worked with people all over the country. I have a southern accent. Those people in the NE, especially Boston, automactically subtract 120 IQ points off for being from the South. So don't get your kackles up. Heck son, we ain't doin' nothin' ya'll New Englanders haven't been doin' for years. You got any "idear" how bad it hurts when you judge our intelligence just because we are from the south?

Now don't get upset, I really don't let it bother me. The worst example was a help desk that actually asked me if I had my computer turned on when I called for help... paaaaaaalllleeeeezzzeeeee

    LMAO

    Danny

PS, hey fishead, at least you don't use the nickname Blue Dolphin! LOL

Settle down Yankee. LOL I know geographical location has nothing to do with it, I'm just glad i'm from here and not from there...I saw the FLW where they were slaying them on the Patomic, Lots of quality fish. No offense intended...Still don't care much for Charlie though.

    I don't like him either!

I don't like Ikes or CM's antics either. Truthfully, I think they make tournament anglers look like clowns. Stereotypes happen, for years most people outside of bass fishing circles thought all bass tournament anglers were all a bunch of rednecks. Next thing is were all a bunch of loudmouth punks!

    Go catch some!

Hey Danny, I always felt out of place in New England. Ever hear about people that think they were born in the wrong era? I believe I was born in the wrong geographical location. When I first moved to KY I knew I was home! I have had several opportunities to move back to the NE when my ex-company relocated their HQ, I turned it down to stay here.

I may have been born a "Yankee" but I'm just a good ole boy at heart. Maybe I was conceived in the south? I know my folks were traveling alot about that time.

I really didn't take any offense, just don't like to be steroetyped for any reason. Whether its geography, hobbies, politics or religion!

Oh BTW, an "idea" is something you think of like a plan or action. An "ideal" is a standard of perfection, beauty, excellence, etc existing in the mind. I have no "idear" what "idear" means.
