    How many are????

How many of you guys and girls are looking forward to the February classic?

For some reason, I have lost interest. Is it even still scheduled? I've not seen the ads on ESPN for it like normal.

I kind of feel like this event is actually cheapening the "classic"

It seems like the guys got a free pass. A double qualifying year? I think I would have preferred to have seen BASS skip the Feb. classic this year, and made the anglers still compete to qualify for next year's Feb. Classic. I am sure it was a money decision.

    What do you folks think?

not sure about the schedule, but I seen Andre de Friliers(something like that) whoop but this morning and qualify. It was shown on ESPN2, am I on the same subject?
Personally I would watch any classic, but it does make you think about the double qualifying.

I feel the same way. I wish they would change it up every few years to early, late, spring, summer and fall. To see which anglers can change their fishing patterns and still preform. The Classic will never be held in or near KY if it is still in February. I think BASS maybe in a little trouble if I understand right, that the Federation is leaving Bass and going to the FLW. It will be interesting to see what happends to the sport in the next couple of seasons. Just my opinion Ryan.

I think the classic should be one of the toughest tourn. that they have to fish. I mean they call it the superbowl of fishing so make it the superbowl of fishing. Fish during the heat of the or something along the lines and fish some of the toughest water, example Pitt. or the mighty Ohio. Don't fish were there is going to be alot of fish or big limits caught. Just my opinion

    RE: How many are????

i saw an article about why the decision was made to move it to spring. if i remember it right they said it was because the weights are so much higher and thats what the fans like to see. me personally i would rather see KVD win with 15 lbs of fish rather than 90 lbs. it shows what a great fisherman he really is. but fans will always rule in sports. i personally think its terrible. look at golf for example. the majors are always at the toughest courses at the toughest times of the year and the courses are groomed to make it even harder so the best rise to the top. thas as pure as it gets to me and fishing should be the same.

you're right, the classic should be tough, its tough to get there yes, but don't make a piece of pie to catch fish. I think the classic should have limitations, make it a "one bait tourney"(CB, Spinnerbait, soft plastic, jig-n-pig, etc.) or make it a one rod tourney, or like it was mentioned to have it during a rough time of year so to speak, like July or February.

I still think the original Classic format would be good .Load the guys who have qualified into a plane and fly them to an unknown location and let them go at it .I'm not trying to diminish these guys ability to fish .I know they're awesome or they wouldn't be on the top of the heap , but don't give them the opportunity to harvest any information from local guides or buddies .If you ARE the best , then BE the best .Just my opinion .

I like the mystery lake idea, but it will never happen again. The classic has become such a spectacle that the marketing department has to attract vendors for boothes, get the local communities to pay ESPN for coming there, advertise to get fans there, etc.....

Also, with the idea of the pros having to fish out of identacle boats, and don't they also by defacto then limit the amount of tackle the pro takes?

I also love the new rule that the pro has to pay for any damage to the boat that is above what would normally be expected. They had an article on that on bassfan right after the last classic. I call it the "Ike" rule, after he beached his boat on the concrete and had to change boats. I'd like to see them not allow a pro to change boats if he does something that makes the boat unfishable. Now if it is a breakdown, and it is not his boat, that is one thing, but if you tear up a hull by beaching it on concrete is another thing!!!
