    CALVIN, THIS IS FOR YOU

You posted on the "most hated pro" thing about sinking both Charlie Moore and Ike,

Let's argue this, but in a civilized professional manner. Except for Charlie Moore, forget puuling the drain plug on charlie, I'll throw him off the boat personally, lol, but....

In what way do you think Mike Iaconelli gives this sport a black eye? Remember, I want to stay professional on this matter. I just have much to argue about this, nothing personal against you AT ALL.

RE: CALVIN, THIS IS FOR YOU

I could not agree with you more...I think that Ike has given the sport a new flare...The same flare that Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman, and Jimmie Johnson have given NASCAR...Ike's personality and refusal to settle for the sport's norms has made him unique and a change of pace to watch....Where were the skeptics when Skeet danced on stage? i am sure they were out there...
I think the real black eye to the sport is someone like Marty Stone...He gets on ESPN the week following the '05 Classic and belly-aches about only making $9,000 (I think that was the amount) for fishing three days....That is what gives professional sports a black eye...A man that is given a $40,000 boat and a $40,000 tow vehicle and sponor money that compensates for the majority of the other costs of travel...Not to mention the pure allure of fishing for a living and making $9,000 in three days...Give me a break...I know many people that have to work 5-6 months to make that amount...
    Just my thoughts....

RE: CALVIN, THIS IS FOR YOU

getthanet... I can't believe you would defend Skeet. Remember he is the one that called the fans of bass fishing....

"Those stupid fans" He did so on the greatest angler debate.

Just imagine what he would call you and I? LOL

As for Ike... he has done wonders for the sport, based upon what I have heard and/or read about him at fishing shows. That said, as I said, in a couple of BASS shows, they showed him blowing Larry Nixon while larry was fishing a point.

BUT.... I just to just love Gerald Swindle. When he first showed up on the scene, I saw him deflecting the attention from him to his co-angler, and elderly guy that had caught a huge fish a day or so earlier in the tournament. Now, not so sure, especially after showing his A$$ when confronting Zell Roland (I think that is who it was) about fishing those bridge piers. He not only had to be "bleeped" out on TV, but he also showed just how little he knew, saying Zell had not fished there the day before because he was there all day, yet video clips clearly showed Zell catching fish there the day before.

Talk about thinking you own a lake... he had to move the whole length of the bridge to confront Zell, or at least that is the way it looked.

I think this speaks loudly to what EXPN wants, the in your face style of fishing. Remember what they called the college tournament? Smashmouth fishing, and yet Kyle who fished that tournament said there was no smashmouth talk going on. I also think it shows what happens when your ego gets too big for your britches.

RE: CALVIN, THIS IS FOR YOU

In my post I did not defend Skeet...I simply asked the question of where were the skeptics...Not a defense of him...Just a question....
Just wanted to get that clear...

I still think Ike is one of the best fisherman in the sport...Yelling, screaming, and dancing does not make him a poor sport or unsportsmanlike...

As far as the Gerald Swindle or any other confrontation goes...They are all out there competing and things like this is going to happen...It goes in every single sport/competition...If there is not a bit of anger from time to time that a person is not giving it his all....Swindle was out of line that day...

    good point,
I defended swindle in a certain case, although it was hard :), but you have to give credit where credit is due, if there was no drama in fishing, we would be bored, nothing to post about!

    THANK YOU DANNY

I have been wanting to discuss Gerald Swindle ever since I saw that bridge incident. Yes Zell fished that bridge the day before and caught fish. Gerald was on one side of the bridge at the point. Zell pulls in on the totally other side of the bridge on the opposite point. The first thing out of Gerald mouth is "oh no he aint" "what the hell is this?" He then throws his rod down hard and says "I'm gonna go take care of this right now". we know the rest, Zell leaves and says I'll give him till noon, then I'll be back. Zell even said "all we can do is give him the benefit of the doubt". After that, Gerald dropshots the bridge and catches at least 4 or 5 good keeper fish (spots), FROM ONE SPOT. Like it mattered what was going on 600 yards away. It's like the Eggner's Fairy Bridge (68/80), plenty of room. Gerald showed how much he really knew about fishing, that he needed 600 yards of bridge to catch fish, but he surprised himself. He then trolls into a bay with muddy water and, still using his dropshot rig with 6lb test, throws to isolated wood cover and says: "I'm not afraid to use 6lb test in wood, that's what seperates the men from the boys, you can't let your line intimidate you", (very close to something along that line), he hooks into a big fish, bigger than any he got from the bridge, he fights it for several minutes without even seeing it. We might say it was a 5 lber by the way it stayed out of site that long (or a drum :) ) what happens next?? The line breaks, hahahaHAHA, he then throws his rod down hard and has a temper tantrum and says sullingly "all I do is try try try and all I get is this, I get close and then blow it every time", of course there is a lot of bleeping. Hmmmmmm, yeah you can't be afraid to throw 6lb into wood, he prob didn't even retie after those few fish. Knots can only get so tight then they cut into each other. I liked the guy from the Bass Tech show, but when I seen this it went downhill immediately. Zell won that tourney, and he was run out of one of his spots, GO ZELL, although that other guy, the chinese guy maybe??? I can't remember, but he caught a heck of a limit, the guy was totally awesome that tourney, at the last moment he caught "big momma" as he said he would. The chinese guy(sorry if I'm wrong about the race) was the last to weight in, Zell was last and the tention was high, Zell wins by 1 pound. I love that show and would pay for a copy. As far as Gerald, he doesn't look good, but I will say one thing on his behalf. If you look at the Ultimate Match Fishing rules, it says to do whatever it takes to win, dog your guy any chance you get. But Gerald gets into trouble when he says he is fishing with an idiot (talking about ike), this was the very 1st episode I believe, but he didn't sound like he was being mean really, just trying to give the audience something to listen to. I watched the show twice and Gerald was very respectful even after the tourney, he said "ike flat out gave me a spankin" I just think they should be more dag gum clear with the rules, Gerald may not have known the limits, but he found out. That's the only good thing I could say about him, good person, sore loser sometimes.
If you read all of this, sorry for the long speech, but like I said, I have been waiting to talk about this.
