    GPS mapping chips

    I got a Lowrance 332c for christmas and was wondering if any one has any info on which GPS chip is the best to get. I am looking for one that shows detailed contour lines, depths, and creek or river chanels. I was thinking about either the Navionics Hotmaps Premium East or Fishing Hot Spots Elite East. What do you think.

    RE: GPS mapping chips

    barrenbass;
    I have a LMS 320, I am thinking about upgrading to the 332c, I have the Hotspots Classic that I use, It works real good, shows good detail, I have used it on Rough River, Kentucky and Barkley. The Premiun looks even better than the Classic and I think you will be happy with it. One thing about the new chips, you will need to keep zooming in until your lake that you are on appears, the fisrt time I used it, I thought that it was not working because it did not show the lake that I was on, just didn't zoom in enough, these clips hold a lot of information, My the way, how is Barren looking?

    Good Luck

    RE: GPS mapping chips

    I just ordered a Matrix 97, I was told it has the maps built in to the system. I can not wait to see how it works.

    RE: GPS mapping chips

    I too have ordered the Matrix 97 but I do not beleive they have the detailed maps built in such as Hot spots or Navonics. I plan to purchase them seperately. Correct me if I am wrong. It would be a nice suprise if I did not have to purchase the chip.

    RE: GPS mapping chips

    I just recently installled two LMS-332c's on my boat (one at the bow and one at the console)with the new Lowrance networking system. I bought the "Hot Spots) EAST mapping chip and I really like it. All of the contour lines and detail is great and it zooms in to .03 of a mile. I highly recommend it and you can order it on-line from Lowrance for $99.99 + shipping! Good luck!!

    apextrail,
    You are correct, the Matrix 97 comes with a North America map built in. But you can use Navionics Gold Charts and HotMaps. It has a Multi-Media Card (MMC) slot for them. I can not wait to get it installed and learn how to use it.

    Lumpydriver, does your chip cover the OHIO and CONNECTICUT RIVERS? I'm looking for a new chip for my Lowrance X-15.

    RE: GPS mapping chips

    Roothead,
    I just installed my Lowrance units last week and I haven't had a chance to use it much. I am in central KY. and the lakes that I fish around here are on the chip. You can go to the Lowrance website and go to the mapping section, then to Hot Spots Elite, and it will give you the four regions available. Click on East and it will give you all of the bodies of water on that chip. Hope you find what you're looking for! Good Luck!
