Hey Rodney,
I am thinking I would like to rejoin this year. I was wondering, what is the direction the club is going in? Are we still required to be members of BASS or are we going to need to be members of FLW Outdoors?
I may have another guy interested too. Will let you know.
Thanks for the answers Rodney.
Danny
well we have decided to support wholeheartedly the kbf and they are pairing up with the flw. as far as we know we are not required to be flw members like we were for BASS we do however need to pay the normal kbf dues which puts our dues as 50 sumolions

LAST EDITED ON Jan-24-06 AT 04:42PM (EST)[p]Actually, SOKY club members will need to join FLW outdoors at $25 a year. The annual cost for club/KBF membership is 50 greenbacks.
TBF/KBF has agreed to a package where FLW will give the federation a huge chunk of money ($1,000,000) and have spots in their ALL American and other tourneys for Federation anglers. TBF will use the cash to pay salaries and finance the federation regionals and national. The Federation regionals and national championship have no entry fees. The Federation national champ will also win the 'Living the Dream' package from FLW which includes a wrapped boat, tow vehicle, and professional tourney entry fees for a year.
TBF's insurance covers each of it's members for $1,000,000 liability during any club and Federation events, and each member automatically gets a $10,000 medical and accidental death policy. Fishing without worrying about lawsuits, and my family getting enough to pay for planting me if anything happened is worth $75 a year to me, all else aaside.
The FLW package is FAR superior to anything BASS is offering the "grassroots weekend" anglers under their new Federation Nation (FN) plan. Also the spots in the BASS Classic are not there anymore as far as I can see. In fairness to BASS, their FN plan does have similar insurance coverage.
Another note to anyone who may care. Under the BASS/FN plan your club's charter and bylaws are not recognized, you sign an agreement to abide by their rules first and foremost. What that means to me is you essentially turn your club into part of BASS's tournament circuit, Don Rucks and the ESPN gang will tell you what to do and when you'll do it.
Jim, you do mean $50 for your particular club---right, then another $25 for FLW???? I didn't want anybody getting the wrong idea. It's only $25 for a club member to be a member of the TBF/KBF and $25 to be a member of FLW. So, the $75 you mention is an extra $25 for your club and your club only--not going to TBF/KBF or going to FLW. If all that makes sense.

Rodney,
I know what you are saying. I just wanted Jim to clear up the $75. Example---my club only charges the base $25 for the KBF/TBF dues and then we are on our own to join FLW---which I have been a member since back in 1994--so that wasn't a biggie for me. So, a club member in my club would only be out $50 total for the KBF/TBF and FLW. That's all I was getting at. Guess we will find out Sat. about the FLW fees. I really don't see it as a big deal about joining them---but maybe I am missing something. I have been a member of both since 1997---so to me--this year is no different then the past 7 years. Just my 2 cents.
OK Rodney, I'll admit it, sometimes I'm just not alllll that bright. How do I find your question and answer to Donnie on the kbf page?
Thanks,
Danny

Thanks Rodney, I appreciate the help.
MarkW, no real big deal about belonging to FLW, unless it would boil down to a philosophical thing.
For instance, I wanted to fish a fed. club, but not be mandated to re-up for my BASS membership. Of course this was before the split. My beef was that I don't fish the federation tournaments to try to make the classic, and since I really don't like the direction that BASS has taken, I just don't want to continue to support them. Even the magazine is turning into a huge advertisement, articles included.
I even suggested some compromises, such as agreeing either to not fish federation tournaments, or fishing but not being able to qualify for the state team. I also proposed in the suggestion that I would happily pay my state federation fees, as I wish to support them, just not BASS.
Philosophically, I do not like the mandate that we must join FLW, even though I am considering doing so to fish BFLs if I can, and don't sell my boat. The biggest hang up is the money to pay entry fees. Kind of working on a powerpoint for a company that may cover that.
If I fish a federation club, I fully expect and happily plan to support our state federation. It's the national organizations that I'm not that into supporting because of some mandate that takes the decision out of my hands.

What's LFW stand for?? Do they have a website?
FLW---actually stands for Forrest L. Wood of Ranger boats. But, the FLW website is www.flwoutdoors.com
