Quantum Hot Sauce has worked well for me for the past couple of years. They make oil and grease. Grease the gears Oil the bearings and such. I really like the fact that you can see that oil bond to and cover the entire part that you apply it to. Holds up well too. Dropped (more than once)one of my spinning reels in the cold water of Little Beech Fork River while wading in late February a couple of years ago and it never skipped a beat. Of course I cleaned it and oiled it the next day but I never had one problem that entire day of fishing in that frigid water. Thank God for Neoprene waders too.
I use the Hot Sauce oil and I think its great. I use it only on bearings and then only 1 DROP per bearing. There was an article on this site last year about "super tuning" reels and it was great as I use the old Shimano Black Magnum reels with 3 ball bearings. The article showed how to remove excess drag from reels for casting and the oil was used to "slow down bearings" and also for lubrication.
