KVD AND CLUNN AT 2006 BOAT AND RV SHOW

Been to Rupp Arena tonight for boat and rv show, mainly to see Kevin VanDam , and was fortunate enough to see Rick Clunn, also. KVD gave two great seminars, one on spinnerbaits, the other on jerkbaits, and plastic. The main thing I wanted to say is these two guys were shocking on how down to earth to talk to, and totally class acts... Super fun, and would advise anybody who has the chance to check it out, do so. The schedule is posted on Rupp Arena web site.... KVD and Clunn are truly great for the sport, and thanks to Stokley Marine for the chance to meet these guys.........

RE: KVD AND CLUNN AT 2006 BOAT AND RV SHOW

I attended the seminars of both KVD and Clunn... (Not to mention our own Dave Stewart). All were informative and entertaining.

BTW... I enjoyed talking to Dave on Saturday... but one question I had for him got lost in the empty space that is my mind. I'll ask everyone, since someone else may have the answer:
Where can I buy some Hook Some Bass Spinnerbaits?

O well... back to the topic at hand:

I enjoyed the show, but did anyone else notice some conspicuous absences?

It was nice to see Kaylor marine out there with a nice looking Charger Bass boat on display. But where were the Stratos, Skeeter and Champion dealers? I was hoping to see some Bullets, Blazers, or maybe even an Allison out there but it didn't shock me not to find any. But to not see a single Stratos, Skeeter or Champion in the buiding? That was disappointing.

    Hoke Some Bass Products....

LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!! Dave turned me onto them last spring and they are great. Spinnerbaits run true and the embossed pattern on each blade adds a little more thump to the willow leaf blades. The biggest selection of Hook Some Bass Products can be found at a place called "The Cabin". It is located on the same road that runs across both dams and Ky and Barkley. If you leave Ky Lake and go across both dams it will be on your right on the Barkley side. Another place that has a much much much smaller selection is Judy's bait and tackle which is on 68 on the Ky side north of Johnathon Creek. I am sure someone can chime in and give you some better info to find these 2 places.

Take a real hard look at their plastics for I think they are the best in the business, IMO. I think it is something in the scent for they absolutely stink coming out of the pack and the rubber material is way more lifelike than and other plastic I used. Take your favorite tube and put it in the water next to HSB tube and look at the action. HSB is much the best, IMO. You will not find 14,000 different colors of their products but they more than have enough of the basics that is all I need. I talked to the owner last week and he is working on a website and catalog that should be done soon. He will sale in bulk at a discount and even sale the spinnerbaits in bulk un-assembled at a discount.

Long winded answer to your question but hope it helps.

    Thanks!

I'll make a point to stop in the Cabin when I'm at Barkley in May. Unless someone knows an on-line store that carries them.

I haven't tried the plastics... but on your word, I'll be looking for some Brush Hounds now too.

RE: KVD AND CLUNN AT 2006 BOAT AND RV SHOW

    Clint,

I've got four, and for the right price, I can let them go. Remember, I said the right price, and it is HIGH!!! LOL

The Hook some Bass are made by a couple of guys down in TN. Give me some time to check my old computer, I may still have their contact information there. I know I don't have it here. Sorry for that.

I have to say though, I love their plastics. Their baby brush hound has been very good. Also, although they are very soft, the ones I have anyway, seem to last a very long time. I've caught as many as 5 fish on one bait. I don't think that ever happened with the Zoom. Generally I can't get over 3.

I'll try to get the old computer fired up and check for the information. I don't keep it here, so maybe someone will get the information to you quicker.

RE: KVD AND CLUNN AT 2006 BOAT AND RV SHOW

i went sunday and watched bob dillow and dave's seminars and both were very informative. i really wanted to talk to dave for a few minutes but he was hoarded by people the whole time. the show other than that was a disappoinment to me personally. i was also wanting to see some skeeter's and other boats. i was also wanting to buy some "show priced lures". THERE WAS ONE DANG ROOM WITH ABOUT 200 SQ FT OF LURES. that blew me away. i've never been to a boat show with no selection of baits before. the guy at register said if they hadnt called them early in the week and asked them to come there wouldnt have been anyone there selling lures at all. that just amazes me. what kind of boat show has no baits? very dissapointing to me i wont go back to that one.

It's their price of the booths........you noticed that the booth selling bait was not anywhere near where the hawg trough was....but by golly if you wanted to Hunt in Alaska,Canada,...there was 15 places to sign up..

Oh I forgot David Rogers cleaned out his garage and was selling his stuff at his booth....

2006 LEXINGTON BOAT AND RV SHOW

I got word this morning that the 2006 Boat Show was one of the most heavily attended in show history. Thanks to all who attended. Hope you enjoyed it! I sure did. I caught my limit in the trout tank and went to the house.
