Goat is in Tennessee. You cant go south of goat and fish anywhere in KY. Ky liscense is good in all of Illwill Creek and all of Wolf River even the parts of Wolf that lies in TN due to reciprocating lisc agreement. You can also fish the northern parts of 3 or 4 creek arms on the north side of the lake. Any map will show you the state line plus there are markers on the banks to show you when you cross the state lines. There is some pretty good water to fish on the Ky side but in my humble opinion it is well worth the money to get a TN liscense for I think there is better water in TN to fish for Smallies especially this time of year.

RE: Where to stay on Dale?

If I it were me, I'd go ahead and buy the Tennessee license, at least a three-day anyway. Taking into account how far I'd have to drive in the first place (I live in Louisville), I wouldn't want to go that far and be limited to the amount of water I could fish...Plus just like in Kentucky, the money will be put to good use to help support our sport...

I have a question guys...the way I'd be coming to Dale is down 90 to Burkesville, then I would turn right at Burksville...where abouts from there is the first place I could purchase a Tennessee license?

    Buy online....

    Chub,

go to google.com and do a search for online fishing liscenses.

When I was buying the TN liscense (I can't spell worth a dang.. sorry), I purchased either online or using their 1-800 number. There is like a $5 convenience fee, but you will spend that much at least in gas.

Of course, if you do go to a local bait shop, you will have an excuse to buy more tackle. After all, I doubt they make much selling the liscense itself, so you will want to help them stay in business, so you will of course by several dollars of that special lure that is working right now.

Jeff down at Sportsmans headquaters or fishing world or whatever, always has that special bait...LOL. Usually it is the one he has the most inventory of too, not figured that one out yet... LOL

Oh forgot to mention....the back side of Tenn island is a good bank to throw the fly on. With the water back up some and the temp dropping it may be a good place. You'll know if you see 14 boats lined up waiting thier turn. The Wolfe River Channel sweeps real clost to it. It runs from there over to the mouth of Phillip's bottom and head around that bluff.
The right wind and it's easily fished. The wrong wind and it'll wear you out.

    Good luck.....
