Put in at the State and fish Ky side of Wolf...skull bluff. Then hit Illwill....I've never done anything in Fanny's. Just my 2¢. Fish FNF and don't bother with much else this time of year.
I would be heading to Dale Hollow down 704 in Coumbia into Burkesville, can someone give me directions to a launch?
Never done FnF could someone give me a quick lessonon how to rig?
And how deep to fish it?
Will try to get out this week.
Will let every one know how I did,I'm from the northeast and like to fish Silver Buddys
Tim
Silver what....just kidd'n man....Billy Westmoreland....couldn't keep them off that thing.
When you first enter Burkesville from that direction....look for a brown sign that say Dale Hollow Lake State park or follow the sign (also there) that directs you toward Celina, TN. I think the road is Burkesville Hwy. Now here's where you need to decide.
If you want to fish the areas that Elnuts talked about Tennessee Water, put in at Hendricks. Holly, Mitchell, Hendricks, main lake bluffs everywhere. You'll travel about 8 miles further and be on the lookout for a sign that says Hendricks Creek. If you cross into TN...you just missed it. It will be on the left....Caution: the road to this ramp is STEEP so if it's snowing or icy...make sure you put it in 4WD.
If you want to fish KY water, put in at state. Big brown sign at the top of the hill after you cross the C-land river. You'll make a left. Then be ready to make another left...you'll see a big sign for Sulfur Creek cabins or something like that...I never fully read the sign....smallmouth on the brain. There will also be another brown sign 8^) You'll drive about another 4-5 miles and make a right....it sneaks up on you...watch for another brown sign. This road will take you right down to the state ramp.
FNF - You ought to read some of the previous posts on this setup. We've been fishing it for years without special rods, floats and such. However, the system has been fine tuned for better productivity and easier fishing. It's pretty tough to wield a 8' bobber and leader with a 6' rod. Check out www.punisherjigs.com.
Good luck friend...leave the live bait at home 8^)
The best lake in the state for smallmouth. It might take a couple of times to learn it, but it will be well worth it. Lots of good places to launch from.
I heard from a Guide buddy of mine that the lake came up 5 feet with the recent rains and the FNF bite has turned back on fairly decent after a terrible bite the past 5-6 weeks. Good Luck and save a few for the rest of us.
