What fishing rod??

With so many new fishing rods on the market, I was wanting to know which is your guys favorite rod. Not the rod you would like, but the rod you will always use. If sponsored by the rod company, say it. It would be interesting to see who sponsors our local fisherman.

RE: What fishing rod??

LAST EDITED ON Feb-09-06 AT 05:41PM (EST)[p] I sure wouldn't buy a Falcon. I have had nothing but problems with them. Broke 2 in the same day on hooksets only 2lbs fish.
and they don't stand behind there warranty. It cost as much in shipping as it would cost to buy a new one. $40 to send and $40
return. I'll stick with G-loomis they back there rods 100%.

kingfishr,

I sure hate that for you. I have one falcon rod that I got on clearance at Uncle Lees. Great price, and very nice rod. I've had no problems with it, and have caught several fish.

Hmmmm, maybe I am just not as strong as you and can't set the hook as hard? LOL

Really, I do hate it for you. Also, I do agree with your assessment of GLoomis. I have two of them, and they are very light, sensitive, and seem plenty strong.

What I have found for choosing my rods is that I frequent the tackle shops of Uncle Lee's and a couple of other places when I know they mark down their inventory. That could also be why I have so many different brands. It's the best way to try new brands inexpensivly.

For the money Castaway. I have 17 of them and love them. They are also great to work with if there are any problems.
I sent a jerk and twitch rod back, it broke more than likely it was my fault. Sent in $15.00 and had a new rod in less than 2 weeks. It is hard to beat that.
For a little more money Airrus rods are what I would go to if I was going to change. I like to keep with one brand of rods. Airrus will replace any rod for any reason for life! And unless they think there is a manufacturing problem you don't even have to return the broken rod.

I have a couple that I'd replace with the same rod if I had to. The first is an AllStar Zell Rowland TWS that has accounted for more fish than I can count. Great for jerkbaits, small crankbaits and for POP-R's it's the greatest. The second is also an AllStar, but their MS3-TN. A MH 6'6" spinning rod that I use for worming and small jigs. Both these rods are great.

GLoomis. I have fished with the same 6'6" MH IM6 since 1987. It's still my favorite rod out of many that I own. They are high dollar but super nice! I have also heard they are great about replacing broken rods.
