EVeryone know's I live in Muhlenberg County. My family owns about 250 acres, and is surrounded by Peabody owned land. Although the area behind us was always considered the Wildlife Refuge, we still have poachers hunting back there. This year was the worse ever, as Peabody has released our land back to us, and have removed the Refuge tag from their land. Ex-peabody employees are supposedly giving out their keys to the gates and encouraging their friends to go back there and hunt. Why is that a problem? Just a couple of weeks ago we had people less than 100 yards from our house releasing their hunting dogs. The told us that yes, they saw the "NO HUNTING" signs, but anyone can put those up... I replied, of course, especially the land owner.

Well, now on to the main subject of this post. Peabody just sold 3,100 acres that surround our land to developers from Florida. They sold for $2,000 per acre. Locals wanted to buy the land, but Peabody would not break it up, you had to buy the entire 3,100 acres. Also, I have learned that Peabody has sold a lot of the land that was WMA in Ohio County. I am not sure exactly where that was, but I am encourageing everyone to double check the area before you hunt and fish. The landscape is changing very fast.

Now I'm curious, did Disney buy that land, and am I going to soon be seeing giant mice running around on our land, along with Goofey looking dogs?? LOL
