Can anyone tell me when the walleye start to make the run up the Big South Fork.
Thanks
I'm curious about it too. I've often wanted to launch my boat at yahoo falls and work my way down to burnside. I'm a little concerned with the lower water though if thats even possible. Can anyone comment on this? thanks.

That would be a fine trip in a boat with a shallow draft. Below Alum Ford you are pretty much in the lake, flat water. Most people start knocking rocks up about a mile below Yamacraw, I've been fortunate enough to make it all the way to Blue Heron before trashing a prop (motor hasn't been the same since). I've seen some really nice bass boats in the BSF. Maybe they know the channel, maybe they'll get lucky, ignorance is bliss... Take it slow and you should be fine, or at least do less damage :)

I have also heared about the run up the river for the lake spawners. I also have not had a good report from those that fish the south fork up that far. That being said i will not dispute any reports because that section of the river has some big boulder rocks that can eat lower units that you cannot see if you do not know the river and I am chicken.

I used to fish the big south fork back in the early 70's used to be a lot of good fishing in that part of the lake We used to launch at a ramp at the end of (High ridge.?)It is a long run from Burnside to the falls I think the walleye run in early March
