Need Advice!!!!!

OK, as Mike and Mike say, I've got to "JUST SHUT UP."

But first, I need some advice.

My wife and I were heading to the store today, and she wanted to know what was going on here on the fishin.com board. Great wife, huh?

Well anyway, I told her about this thread. She laughed and said you know you still want that magazine. Well, I launched right into my rant about how the magazine has changed, about the directions of BASS, etc.......

Then, a very sad look came across her face. You see, my honey is a big time magazine fan. She has tons of them that she subscribes to, and even with our current condition (finances) I've encouraged to her keep her magazines... they make her happy and she really loves to read.

Well, she told me she thought I was just not resubscribing because of the cost. She had been saving some money to buy me something for Valentine's day, so she bought a money order, and subscribed me for 3 years.

Now my delima, do I keep the subscription, after all, she was very thoughtful, or do I try to cancel and get a refund. Now, she has given me permission to do that. However, I'm afraid I will hurt her feelings.

So, what say all of you.... Keep it, or ask for a refund?

    Thanks in advance.

    Danny

LAST EDITED ON Feb-10-06 AT 07:58PM (EST)[p]Keep it Danny!!!!! This whole BASS/ESPN has gotten out of hand--IMHO. If you like the magazine---then so what. Who really cares what BASS/ESPN does. The bassmaster mag is ok, but now the BASS Times to me is much better then alot out there. It goes into alot of details and especially the details of what each winner used and patterns, etc. Quit making this whole deal sound like it's a life and death matter. It's not. You don't have to support, like or even care about what BASS does---but if you like the magazine---then let her do something nice and don't hurt her feelings. Again---just my two cents.

BTW--Danny, I totally understand the whole alcohol thing-----it just sounded funny when everybody was complaining about boats and alcohol, but yet race cars are running around with as many if not more alcohol sponsors and I have never once heard anybody complain.

If you have any doubt as to whether it'll hurt her feelings you gotta keep it. You could get your money back and take her out for a nice dinner with it.

DH is probably right. If you do cancel you should do something nice for the Mrs. I however tend to be more selfish and would put the money towards a new rod or more tackle and credit her for understanding. Yes, I am a hopeless romantic.

    Thanks Guys.....

I appreciate everyone's advice. I'm not crazy about the magazine anymore, but I am gonna keep the subscription. I've just been thinking about it, and she was really trying to do something without my knowledge to make me happy. I can't deny that.

Scaley, I gotta brag a little about my wife. She has been the most supportive of my fishing as anyone person can be. She only ever worries about my safety. In fact, one year, about 3 maybe 4 years ago, she went and bought me a GLommis rod. It was my first. Even considering I am not working, she wants me to sell my boat to buy a new one.... she says we will find a way to pay for it... what a gal. Obviously I am not going to do that. Also I won a couple 100 dollars in American Express gift checks a year or so ago at work. She has them hidden, and no matter what I want, she won't give them to me until we head to BassPro shops. Yes, I checked, there is no experation dates... LOL.. would hate to lose those. She even wants to know why I don't buy only Lucky Crafts? She has seen them mentioned on TV, and knows how expensive they are, and thinks they have to be the best!!

No, I won't trade her for anything.

    RE: Thanks Guys.....

You may have just described the perfect woman! Tell me she cooks good and I'm gonna start bawling:( (LOL) I really can't complain myself. My wife has been nothing but supportive in recent years. She lets me use all the Cabelas Bucks that we earn. She even likes going fishing as long as there is some kind of bite going on. Still likes to leave a few hours sooner than I do but I guess do the same thing when she drags me off shopping.

Here's to keeping the "Keepers" who caught us! :)
