RE: Curado

I was just at Flipper's Bait and Tackle in Gallatin, TN on Old Hickory Lake 2 days ago and he still had a few of them left in the 6.2 ratio's for $119. He runs a great shop and will ship it to you. These are new reels, however he had used ones as well. His website is http://www.flippers1.com/.

By the way, I also looked at the Citca's while I was there and they are not the quality of the old Curado's. Take off the brake cover and you will see the difference. The brakes look weak. I am really disapointed with Shimano. They shouldn't have messed with a good thing and the fact that the new Curado is $80 more is wrong, becasue it doesn't seem like $80 worth better. Good luck!

Try the link above or give the guy a call...I just bought one from him this weekend at the Strader Show for 120.00 bucks...When I saw him around 3:00 pm Sunday he said he had four Curado's left, I bought one of them...all four were 6.2:1 right handed models, all four were brand new still in the box...I realize 120.00 bucks wasn't a "deal" but like someone else on this thread said: "If you want it you'll pay for it"

LAST EDITED ON Feb-14-06 AT 10:01AM (EST)[p]You can get the new 2006 Curado for $160 on a Buy It Now auction on ebay. If you want to take your chances on regular auctions, I've seen 'em go for as low as $130.
That's not too bad considering they retail for $199.

I've got two being shipped to me right now; I'll probably add 3 or 4 more before the summer is over.

And you can get brand new 2005 or older models for way, way cheap.

RE: I have a brand new one

From what I've been able to gather from looking at the new models and comparing them to the old models the old lower class chronarch was discontinued, the old curado was upgraded to take its place and the old citica's were upgraded to the level of the old curado's. Hope this makes some sense, but anyhow, this is what I've gathered from my research and talking to a few people that are in close contact with Shimano.

RE: Curado

That's not rude at all. Right now is the best time to buy a new one off ebay. A lot of ebay sellers bought up every reel they could find when they were discounted. The are now for sale on ebay. Finding one at a retail store will be difficult. There are some out there but not many. If you do find something in a store it will likely be a lefty.

Ebay is not just for used stuff. I have bought Lew's BB1N new in the box on there. They are costly but if you want it bad enough you'll pay for it.

RE: Curado

I was looking for a few at Walmart, but they were out. HOWEVER, they had a few bantam citica 200s left marked down, WAY DOWN. What's the story with the citica 200s? I have a curado 200 BSF that is my baby. would a citica be comparable to the curado?
