Took a chance and shot down to Cumberland on Sun. Weather was cold and the wind was about 20-25 at times. No so bad until a big went snow slapped us

Nothing more fun than retying a F-n-F rig in a snow drift that has formed in your boat...

    We caught 2 LM....

    Dear "Shad",
Hats off to you. My wife no longer thinks I'm out chasing redheads, when I tell her I'm going fishing in January! She now knows it really is possible for a man to do such a strange, yet wonderfully invigorating thing.

I hereby bequeath my bad weather reputation to you. But I just got to ask some qualifying questions, before turning loose the title as the "sickest, bad weather, misery stricken, frostbitten fool this side of Siberia".

    A. I need atleast one photo, of you or your buddy, with his tongue frozen to something. Doesn't have to be anything big. A swivel will due, or keys ya put in your mouth on the way to the truck.
    B. I need a picture of atleast one lure snagged, or even just cast up on an ice pack. Doesn't have to be a big ice field, just a small berg will due.
    C. A picture of one of the bass you caught, clearly showing the name brand of the thermal underwear the fish was wearing to be warm enough to chase down and bite a lure.
    D. In lieu of A, B, or C above, a single picture of you trying to release the fish, now frozen to your hand, and a signed doctors statement attesting to the fact that he had to surgically remove it.(Sir, the fish, not the hand)

I hope I didn't set the bar too high here, from the pictures posted, I'd bet you got all that on digital, if not on CD by now.

I might bump into you at C-land. Doc says I'm about to win my most recent bout with frostbite. Hands done, as an angler you win. I got mine when I fell asleep reaching for the last beer in the back of the freezer.

don't feel bad elnut. me a friend went out on rough sunday and put out a few brushpiles. i have a wonderful picture of a huge brushpile that we made with my buddy sitting in the middle of it tying a rock to it in the middle of a freaking blizzard. i'm 10 ft away from him and you can barely see him. he lives on the lake and we got lost on the way back to the ramp because we couldnt see either bank.

Redneck is right...I bet it was some of the most beautiful scenery...serene, peaceful and no doubt he probably had the entire lake to himself...

Not only because winter fishing is or can be good, I think the lack of others on the water during the winter is another reason I like it so much

Redneck, what time did you hit the water and what time did you all pull out? Also, did you all see anyone else on the lake?

We put in about 10am and got back to the ramp about 3:30pm...There was only one other boat trailer at Wolfe Creek other than us. We saw maybe 3 boats all day.

This is great. There is a HUGE part of me that wishes I was in the boat right next to you. This is the same part of me that my wife says in NUTS to fish in this type of weather. I tell her that at least I am guaranteed to catch something, Smallmouth, Largemouth, Ky Bass or the FLU.

Take your pick on what you catch, but it beats being at work or sitting at home and watching the BIG BLUE (I use this term loosely this year) play for the names on the back of the jersey's instead of the name on the front this year. I say take each player's name off the back and put KENTUCKY in it's place. This way even if they get confused they will be playing "TEAM" Ball and "TEAM" Defense instead of all this individual play. I have now put down my soapbox and picked up my FNF rod again, sorry.

That's hardcore, dude! I think I might be getting too old for that stuff. I remember striper fishing at C Land many yrs ago and the high temp hit 18 degrees. Am I getting soft or am I wiser now?
