You have been told wrong. They were "fairly' good sized bluegill.

I heard this week that crappie have been taken out of Lake Reba in Richmond. 2 days a couple of fishermen took their limit of big crappie. Anyone ever fished Reba.
I have 1 time on a boat...caught a couple of largemouth...nothing of any size though.

Someone must have fabricated the truth. I am glad you verified the info. I have fished there before without success. Were these fish taken by boat...what was the water temp.?? I would have thought it difficult to take bluegill this time of year.
The water temp in Reba has to be very cold. Areas in the upper end are still locking up with these cold spells we've had lately. I would say the bluegill ( at least that's what I was told; I've never seen a crappie come out of this lake, and it may very well be full of them) were caught fishing some of the deeper structure that's located throughout the lake. If you can find one of the maps that was produced before the lake was filled years ago, it shows all of the structure that was put in this lake. I have one and no several others that do, but couldn't tell you where you could purchase one. If I hear of a place that has them, i'll post and let you know.
