    Celebrateing after big fish

Iv`e noticed the last couple of years fishing tournaments, a lot of hollering, hand slapping and etc after landing a big fish.

I guess I`m just an old fuddy duddy that believes in getting my lure back in the water as soon as possible when your on fish instead of a five minute celebration. Big fish sometimes keep big company.

At least thats my opinion based on 40 + yrs of bass fishing. Good luck to all in 2006, Tom.

    RE: Celebrateing after big fish

Well I am 52 been bass fishin since I was 16, not to many soft baits back then. Tied our own jigs for a long time, never knew what a rubber jig looked like. Anyway just a few years back I caught a 6 and a 5 lber within 15 minutes of each other while fishing a tourney I was so proud and shook I sit in the drivers seat of the boat for 90 minutes before gettin back up to fish. And still today if my partner or myself gets a big fish we go thru the gongatulation thing. I believe it is well deserved. I hope that I never lose the excitement of catching or seeing my partner catch that big one. High Five to all that catch's a trophy or 5 lber or better in this state. Especially Herrington Lake.

    RE: Celebrateing after big fish

    Hey Tom....

I catch so few really big fish... that when I do, I usually fight a nervous breakdown. I have to get my shakes back under control. I will give the high five to my partner, but that is about it.

I commend you on having the composure to just put the behemouth in the live well, and get back to fishing. Maybe I'll eventually catch enough big fish that it won't shake me up so much!! LOL Actually, I hope I am always that excited.

    RE: Celebrateing after big fish

I fortunately catch what I guess could be called trophy fish on at least a monthly basis and routinely catch "big" fish. I bet I get "the shakes" 90% of the time. I still whoop and holler if I get a true trophy, high five and all that jazz. I guess it's why I still fish 3 or 4 days a week even though I'm 51 years old. I hope the feeling never goes away. I just spent over a $1000 to just up and drive down to Florida for five days of bass fishing even though I live ON the lake in TN. I do not; however, come anywhere close to acting like Ike and I definitely don't throw fits and break things when something goes wrong. I'd hate for a kid to see something like that.......
