Hi everyone... I'm a newbie here and honestly, pretty new to sport fishin' as well. In fact the last time I fished was in AK back in 1990-1991 - and that was fly-fishin' for salmon. Don't really do that anymore. Gosh, probably the last time I went fishin' 'round here was as a kid! Anyways, I've been reading books, articles, online stuff, looking at catalogs, buyin' stuff (lures) here and there and am getting excited for warm weather to return and begin a (re)new hobby! I'm hoping to get a new reel and rod in the next few days and going practice casting down on the Ohio River (I live in Louisville). Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself, and hope to learn lots (for myself and 2 kids who want to get into it as well) and maybe even meet a few fishin' partners eventually. I've been reading the board here for a few weeks and figured it was time to jump in.

So I'm looking to get an affordable (since I'm new to it all) combo set from the Bass Pro Shop, and start hittin' the local waters. Any advice or ideas on how to get started would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, I'm actually from Louisville - grew up here - but moved out west after high school in 1990... but have moved back and been back for some time. I guess a fiancee from Georgia will make ya talk a little like that too though ;) HA HA HA!!

Anyways, lookin' forward to meeting new folks and learning a bunch!
