The good thing is America is the land of second chances, and if he proves good on his word, then good for him... if not, just another guy who took for granted the great situation he was in. Next time, laugh like a lunatic at finding dying fish instead of throwing a fit - it'll still turn the cameras your way! And take care of that mad feeling you have inside.

I cannot believe how many of you guys out there are so narrow minded and unforgiving. We all know what this is about, the kid from the North East with the cocky attitude, then he backs up that cocky attitude with great ability, BUT he acts like an idiot sometimes. So all you Ike haters, remember I do not like his on air ACT either, can all sit back like little girls and go

You don't have to like him, you can root against him, you can even jeer him. But you know what, sitting out there without knowing the man and calling him "wuss" (wuss huh Red, he put it all on the line as a teen ager and young man to go for something he believed in, that took a lot of guts. Who knows what else this man has been through in his life, you certainly don't!) "unpatriotic", whatever is just plain wrong, shame on you just like shame on him for what he did.

You know what I do stand up for him, not because I like his act, but because I too have met him and think he is a great guy. I met Jimmy Houston, Roland Martin and a few other big names and came away saying what a bunch of Azzoles. He left me feeling like I had met someone that truly wanted to talk to me. Yes I wish he would stop the "ACT", I hate it and think it makes T anglers look like clowns, BUT I will not stand back and throw bombs at this guy without knowing him. Who are you to do the same thing.

When a guy is making the kind of money Ike is, and putting himself out there, he invites his critics just as he invites his supporters.

The same thing with posting on here. When you express any opinion in a public forum, you invite both critics and supporters.

Calling names like wuss, punk, etc is not the same as criticizing what he does. Criticize away, jeer, but don't start calling him names like punk, unpatriotic, etc.

And yes, after following this site for how many years since it started. I was one of the original posters, I think I know some of you guys a little. You can tell a person moral character and personality traits by what they post. You know me, we have had our agreements and disagreements over the years, but you know I'm not going to go out there and throw bombs at people. My history on this site proves I will stand up for a position I believe in regardless of the popular postions.

Lke I said before and will state again I DO NOT APPROVE OF IKES ON AIR ACT! PERIOD!. But right is right and wrong is wrong, he was wrong for what he did in the Classic and for things he's done on many other occaisions, but sitting at a key board and throwing bombs and slinging names at the guy from a distance is, well you know what it is and so doesn't everyone else. So just keep at it and everyone will know just what kind of a person you are.

ESPN and the other powers that be that televise fishing needed a way to sway the perception of some that all bass fishermen are inbred rednecks ---> enter Mike Iaconelli and a few others.

His loud, controversial antics were encouraged and applauded because he helped deliver a new demographic to fishing. Like Fish Fishburn before him, he brought new viewers to fishing shows on Saturday mornings, which translates into more people spending money buying baits and tackle from merchandisers and other sponsors.

You may not like it, but IT'S ABOUT MARKETING. It's a big business now; that's why there's such a stink about Series A guys vs. Series B guys, or this circuit making competitors cover the patches on their clothing before they can be shown on camera or walk on stage.

The same thing is happening in NASCAR right now. You've got villains Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart (who are not Southerners) along with a bunch of young pretty boys (most of whom are not Southerners) trying to erase the stereotype that everyone in racing is a barefoot, beer-swilling redneck in a wifebeater t-shirt and a mullet haircut.

I'm in no way suggesting that fishing or racing is scripted or fixed like the movies and wrestling -- but you are naive to think that there aren't teams of markerting gurus that are ready to put a spin on events and shape them to their advantage.
