WHAT GETS ON YOUR NERVES AT THE LAKE

I was just thinking about the times I go fishing, things that really get on my nevers. Maybe if someone is out there who doesn't know they are idiots will read this and change their ways. My number one problem is people who just have to keep their lights on when your on the ramp. You can't see a thing.

RE: WHAT GETS ON YOUR NERVES AT THE LAKE

The one thing that gets to me more than any, is the headlights after dark on the boat ramp.
Typically I get caught up in a mess where people lack experiance of loading and unloading their boats, I try not to let that bother me because I was there once, we all were. A little of experiance speeds that process up.
Only on one occasion when I have stopped and asked someone to turn the lights out so I could back up, have I got negitive feedback, most people don't realize it until it happens to them or somebody nicely tells them.

RE: WHAT GETS ON YOUR NERVES AT THE LAKE

I fish by myself alot of the time. Last Summer I was pulling out of the water at the Dam at Cumberland, as I was getting out of my boat after it was on the trailer and I fell down. Now, I am soaking wet all the way up to my neck and not 1 of the 8 people standing there, 10 feet from me, asked me if I was hurt or anything. They did not even laugh. There was 2 boats putting in also, I was not taking up too much space. I felt they were mad because I had to tie up to the dock and go get my truck. I can launch and pull out by myself faster than some people can with 2 people. What happened to common courtesy?

RE: WHAT GETS ON YOUR NERVES AT THE LAKE

i try not to let too much stick in my craw while fishing. but its impossible not to get aggrevated sometimes in the presence of rudeness. i dont really get pissed at ignorance, say, the dummie who dont know how to work his boat at the ramp, just a little frustrated...the jerk who purposely takes 15 minutes preparing his boat on the ramp is just rude and that twangs my strings a little. i guess the thing that irks me most, mentioned before, is the inconsiderate buttheads who blatantly flies into the bank you're fishing 25 or 30 yards in front of you and goes to chunkin and windin like you aint there. it's rampant on cherokee lake for some reason.

People that launch their boat and tie up to the inside lane of the courtesy dock! This still can block the ramp for the next guy that wants to launch. Or people that are fishing on a courtesy dock and refuse to move and bring in their chicken liver and you are ducking their fishing lines and 10 ft. catfish poles while you are trying to drop your buddy off. Then they give you that LOOK like you are disturbing them! One of these days my motor prop will ##### up their line and will send that 10 ft catpole flying out into the air!......That will be classified as a GOOD day.

RE: WHAT GETS ON YOUR NERVES AT THE LAKE

I didn't have time to read every post, but the thing that bothers me most at any lake is the amount of garbage a trash littering the lakes,it's just ridiculous for people to be so sorry and not haul their trash to a can or dumpster. This includes both boaters and bank fishermen.
One other thing that ticks me off is the lack of common courtesy by boaters, jet ski's,etc and it's not always pleasure boaters either,I don't know how many times bass boats in tournaments or just fishing have run by or at me almost causing accidents, trying to crowd you out fishing, etc.
A little common courtesy goes a LONG way!

    blockin our sauger hole

people running full blast over a hole I was casting into catching sauger ,this happened last friday in the duck pond at the falls of the Ohio ,We were doing great ,this joker heads right for us ,in fact I thought it was the game wardens checking us ,but it was just 3 a-hole fisherman .
They ran right over the spot we were catching fish ,after that the fish turned completley off ....it was unreal

My partner caught the bigest sauger I have ever seen !!! 21 in long and had to be 4lbs ...We did get a pic ,but we put her back ,in order for her to spawn

RE: WHAT GETS ON YOUR NERVES AT THE LAKE

In general, people who obviously have no knowledge of boating laws or common courtesy. I particularly enjoy being at full throttle in the middle of the lake with another boat coming right at me and wondering if he knows to stay to the right or if it's just a roll of the dice.
