I have a 99 chevy silverado truck, and you can not shut the lights off at night when the truck is running. I know how you feel. It bothers me too, as well as the poor folks in the campground. I just call the dealer and asked about it. They said the newer models you can now turn the lights off. They said there is no switch you can installed to correct the problem either. I'd like to help, but what can i do?

Just the general inconsiderate moves that people make at the ramp loading or unloading.

People that slow down to pass me in a creek because they think they are being considerate, but leave a lot more wake than if they were on plane.

I also have a 1999 Chevy, heres the trick on your lights, shut the motor off, press the emergency brake pedal down just a little, an inch or so, restart the truck and your lights will stay off, you can turn on the parking lights with the switch, once you pull off the ramp, just release your emergency brake and you lights will be on. This will not do any damage to your truck or brakes because you have not fully set the brakes. I have been doing this sense my truck was new in 1999, I just put the fisrt set of brakes on my truck and it had 75,000 miles on it.
PS if your light still come on when you start the truck, just repeat the step and push the emergency brake down a little more.

On my 1999,(new style) I have to shut the motor off, push the brake down just a little, and then restart the motor.

On the early (old style) 1999, you can do this while the truck is running,

I hate to see all the litter that careless/thoughtless A-holes leave behind. I agree that cigarette butts are not exempt. I think that some people must be on meth because they love to fly and take huge gambles with their safety and everyone elses.

If you are referring to Daytime Running Lamps---they will shut off. I don't know what kind of truck you are talking about, but I know Fords don't have that problem. GM's either have to partially put the E-brake on and the lights go out or there is another way---but can't remember what it is. Somebody on here knows how to do it, maybe they can explain.

On my 99 Chevy Silverado you can push the dome over-ride button in three times and the lights will go off.

JackA$$es' that see you fishing a bank but blow by within 3 boats lenghts of you when theres 300yds of open water left to drive in!! These are usually the same dick's that will see you fishing tree lines or flooded timber but apparently think that a boat sits perfectly still even if rough water.

The biggest for me is these guys running 60 to 80 mph and do not obey the law of the imaginary yellow line down the middle of the lake or river. I have almost been hit twice like that. I hate to say it but most of the time it is the bass boats especially during tourneys. Then theres the litter.

Today we were trolling along an open water tree line and these two dingalings watched us and then started their boat and came right in front of us so we had to stop.

not sure if a 99 is the same as a 98 but on my tahoe you can press the e-brake in one click and the day lights go off
