KY LAKE
CAN I RUN SAFELY FROM THE CANAL TO MOORS BY CUTTING STRAIGHT ACROSS THE LAKE OR DO I HAVE TO FOLLOW THE BOUYS
-
RE: KY LAKE
Depends on where you cross. I've always done fine with running almost a straight shot across out of the canal. When you come out of the canal, look for the Daymarker (a white diamond) on the far side of Ky Lake and just run towards it. There's an abandoned gray bass boat on the bank just by it, or atleast it was there when last I checked. Then you can follow the buoys all the way up to Moors. If you don't cross directly out of the canal, you'll definitely want to use the buoys that cross in front of Moors because they wind through the streets of a flooded town!

RE: KY LAKE
Don't do it. If you look on a map there is an old town in that general area and there are still foundations of homes that are just below the surface when the lake is at winter pool. Follow the marked channel.

RE: KY LAKE
There is a marked crossing channel from the canal that takes you directly across to the west side of the lake...use it. Can you make a direct line between the Moor's and the canal...just depends on how lucky you are on a given day...they put up bouyed crossing channels for a reason...yeah I know you will see folks crossing in areas not bouyed...Jet-A-Marine in Calvert City loves these folks...lower units run around 5000.00 for later model engines.

RE: KY LAKE - Crossing in the Moors Area
Hey Dave,
I'll have to admit that I'm one of those guys guilty of crossing in that area. However, I normally just idle across there because I can't find any good channel. Am I missing something or just purely dimwhitted? Where is the channel crossing in this area? I probably haven't noticed it because I'm too busy dodging those idiots in their cruisers. LOL

RE: KY LAKE - Crossing in the Moors Area
Kyle: The crossing area I was talking about is basically staight across from the entrance to the canal...there is no crossing are marked that would take you directly from the Moor's to the canal. There is another marked crossing channel just out from the Moor's but it runs southeast (not toward the canal). Now saying all this I know that folks cross the lake between the Moor's and the canal all the time...but it can be risky.
