Anyone fish the big lakes (Ky / Barkley)?

I was supposed to get out this week end -- my first this year and got really sick and have been flat on my back sides all week end instead. It looked like a pretty promising week end to catch an early season sow on the big lakes. How did everyone do this week end? After missing this one I am hoping I can get away one of the next couple of week ends for my first outing. Nothing worse than wishing instead of fishing!

Talk to a group of guys that went. It seemed really feast or famine from their perspective. They pretty much caught everything on crankbaits (Shad Raps). One happened to be a 5.3 smallie. Locations seem to be the usual spots for fish moving up to spawn. Water temps were around 50 degrees. I don't believe they went to Barkley at all.

Thanks for the reply. I sure would have liked to have given them a try this week end. The report you mentioned sounds typicall for early spring. Not a hot bite but some good fish bite early. I hope I make it down there next week end...
