Johnson GT Venom V6

I am looking at a boat w/ a 94' Johnson 200 GT Venom V6 on it, i am intrested in hearing any comments anyone has for me on them. It would be much apreciated.

My stratos has a 96 200 on it it is the same motor, what would you like to know?

well how do you like it? Is it reliable? WHat is the fuel economy like? If you have had any trouble what was it? Would you sugest buying a boat w/ that engine?

Well fuel economy is not great unless you run it wide open then it##### it.The first powerhead lasted 3 yers and blew but i would take responsibility for that.i havnt had any problem with it except new plugs twice a year.i wouldnt have a problem buying this motor,main thing i ahave been told is to not overrev it.it pushes my startos about 73 mph seems as strong as any out of the hole.

It is on an 18.5ft. hydro-sport so i'm sure it will push it good. I have heard allot of people where they say the powerhead has went out. Does yours have the ?fitched?, i'm not sure how to spell it, fuel injection or carbs? They say that the first fitched fuel injection push too high pressures and too hot and it would burn up the powerheads but after the first year they replaced the powerheads w/ a heaveyer duty one.

mine is carbed,i also had them set a little richer,it may lose a 100 or so rpm but at least it won't lean out and blow.have it checked good before you buy it hey it's almost worth paying for gaskets and pulling the heads,you can tell a lot about the motor and only be out a little money if it turns out bad,check for carbon build up cylender scratches and discoloration from overheating.just my opinion.they are too much money to throw away.mid 70's if its in good shape should be easy,26 raker would make it fly i'd say. is it a lightening series?

yeah it's a lightning series and it has a jack plate. But, it has been striped of guages. What do you think is a fair price for it? And do you know what the guages would run?

I don't really know the value,the rpm gauge alone if it has the alarm codes built in it is around $200 or that's what i paid for mine.It would depend on the shape i have my 96 for sale for $7000
it needs carpet and the trailer is a little rough but overall it is average for a 96 it think.i guess it depends on what you feel is fair for it.i'd say if it is in good shape other than gauges it should be worth $8500 or so.i would not sell mine for less if it had carpet and the trailer was in great shape.

well he was asking 8K but i talked him down to $6500 but i am still leary of the engine, even though it has been rebuilt, and i dunno what i would have to invest in the guages. Plus my truck engine just blew 2 days ago so now i gotta buy a new truck. I am in speed school and have no income other than lawn servise in the summer. I was really pressed for cash before but after loosing my truck i may be out of the the market for a boat. What make boat and engine are you selling, and what extras does it have? ie. trolling motor, graphs, jackplate, hotfoot.

Needs carpet.has a few stress cracks here and there nothing major bottom a little scratched.trailer has 1 broke bunk but mainly just dinged up from road debris.top cap a little faded but nothing a good buffing wont fix.had it looked at and said it was nothing to take care of.dont want to sell really just work slowed down to 4 days a week for a while and i have a BABY on the way :-)...check out the boat board too there are some good deals on there.hydra sport with a 175 sounded like a good deal.

well man it sounds and looks like a great boat, but my truck engine just blew and i'm hurting for cash so that is seriously putting a damper on my boat fund.
