I am getting ready to take my baby out for the first time since late fall. I want to charge up my cranking battery. The two trolling motor batteries are hooked to a 2 bank charger so they are ready to go. When charging the cranking battery, should I remove the boat's wiring from it or can I just hook the charger directly to the posts with the wiring intact? I don't want to fry any of my gauges or electronics.
Thanks.
With everything turned off, and I am sure you have a master power switch to do that, you can simply connect the charger. With everything turned off you are separating the circuit from the battery and charger. It probably would not matter but your right to be better safe than sorry.
