No his record didnt get broke at the classic, the classic weight for three days was 56-02 not even close to 83-5(Clear lake)
Byron Velvick:

2 time US open champion
W.O.N. classic champion/01
3rd on the W.O.N all-time money winner list
No I'm not a fan but cannot stand when people bash someone on how they feel about someones personality instead of fact....the guy can fish or he wouldnt be in the game.

Great reply VMAXX,glad to know someone on here knows the facts.Caught those gaints on a big swim bait,i remember when he did it,it started a swim bait craze out west.I'm not his biggest fan either but it amazes me that there are so many guys on this site that don't know much about people in the professional fishing ranks in general.Hear crazy opinions about pros on here all the time, especially after the ike mess.I think there's a lot of people on here that have just very recently taken an interest in fishing cause they seem to know absolutely nothing about the history of the sport.Recently someone made a comment on here about denny brauer not doin anything on the tour and said he never did, comments like that just make me sit and scratch my head in amazement.Again, great post VMAXX.
AMEN Viper!!

I'd say that some people just watch the tournaments ,because they like the competitive format without getting all caught up in "WHO" all the different fishermen are and what each of them has done in their respective careers .After a while ,folks like Brauer,Clunn and heaven forbid , even Ike make an impression after repeated successes but not everyone is focused in on every detail of every guy who weighs a sack .Some people are very detail oriented ,others arent as in-tune with all the stats,etc.........they just like to watch , see some big bags of fish and dream .Just my opinion .
this post kinda goes along with the "fluke" post, well "fluke" beat alot of good guys that knopw how to catch fish that's no fluke.lucky to get those bites maybe but hey i've won a few tourneys also on lucky bites and i have beat some good fisherman, with that said a fisherman that knows a little can have good days some are classics some are clubs.it takes alot to fish the pro level kinda like moving from a good ole boy club you rule to a circuit you wonder how those guys catch all them fish.opinions of pros vary but don't hate me cause you aint em.
Thanks VMAXX,
As I was reading this thread, I was thinking the exact same thing. I don't like him, but at least give him the credit he is due.
Also I don't really expect him to do well on the tour. He has a lot of distractions in his life right now, especially doing BassCenter. I really doubt he gets to really prepare to for the tournaments.
If I hear "Westside" one more time... sheesh. I don't care for Skeet Reese either, because of his views of us "idiotic" fans, but Byron pimps him too.
I doubt ESPN will let Byron talk a lot about Luke. ESPN was about to make an exception to let Luke fish the Elite tour and give him his spot in next year's classic, after Luke inquired about it, but then ol' Luke turned them down. He said his sponsors did not line up well with ESPN, and felt he needed to show loyalty. I agree, but since ESPN showed they would make the exception for him, then he basically stood them up.
Should be a really fun year in pro fishing this year. I'm excited to see all the posturing.
Danny
I agree that the WS stuff is out of control, however, give the devil his due. His wife is smoking hot and he is a professional fisherman doing what he loves most in life. He also has a successful TV show on ESPN, like to watch him or not, he's a living a life most people would kill for, jealous?
I'm definately jealous, He has hair!
