They do sound a siren there....years ago they did not but that has changed. I am sure the problem here was that it was the sluice gate that was opened...this is normally a very rare occurance for the dam there.....in the area that these folks were in, when the turbines are turned on, it is completely away from the turbines and protected by a wing wall. I can see this happening for sure.
