I was Hiking/Fly fishing in the Red river gorge friday and came across several Piles of Pink Balls. Some piles had other balls that seemed to have lost their pink coating and were clear amber colored with Liquid in them.
My first thought was that they were some sort of scent/coverscent item or perhaps a scent attractant, but they look like bath beads and there were a lot of them. I'd hate to hear that someone is polluting our Wilderness. I hope they are Biodegradable. Anyone who can tell me what they are please shed some light? It's got me stumped

No.. These were the size of a rubber bouncy ball. About an inch in Diameter. Salmon eggs would be even more disturbing to me as natural baits are still illegal to use in the gorge.(till the end of March for one creek and the end of may for another and still completly illegal on three others)
Sounds like some kid lost some of his paint balls.....
You think they might have been paintballs?
Sorry... The liquid inside was amber clear. I didn't smell it. In fact I was afraid it might have been toxic so I didn't fool with them much. I had a plastic bag but didn't think to pick one up. The pink coating was like a foam and under that is seemed geletin or plastic much like a paint ball but clear and bigger. It remains a mystery still but Thanks to all for your suggestions. Hopefully together we can get to the bottom of this. I was in The Parched corn creek basin and had no luck. I got some good pictures and this Mystery for my trouble though.
Sounds like Big Foot Eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!
sounds like paintballs used to play and thats what it sounds like
^ If somebody shoots at me with a 1" diameter paintball, I'm going to be ticked off. x(
Me too. These things were soft.. not firm like paintballs and there was no paint splatters on tree trunks or cliff walls. They seemed to be designed to disolve like gel caps.
paintballs will swell up if they get wet and lose a little of their color
