Went to Rough this afternoon with my 5 year old mainly to run the boat and check out the pumps. I couldn't help but wet a line. My buddy DW gave me a little tip where he had caught a few earlier in the week around Laurel Branch. Water was pretty dingy (1' to 18" visibility)and on the rise because all the rain we've gotten. I started throwing a 200 bandit Cht/blue back around rocky banks with stumps. Caught a 5 1/2lb shortly after and she was in 3ft of water and FAT! A storm started to move in so went back to the state ramp while it rained. Went back out and caught a slot close to the state dock and it was time to leave. I didn't put in until 2 and only fished about an hour. Water temps are 50 to 54 depending on where you go.

sounds like a success. I assume the boat performed well. Did your 5 year old enjoy the trip? Dave
The Triton/Opti performed great. Just got the prop back from Performance Propellors in Old Hickory,TN and it looks brand new. Performs like a new one also. Those guys do a great job.
My 5 yr old was tickled pink to be out there with Daddy. I tried to get him to hold the big fish to get a picture but he didn't want to. He did take a couple of pictures with me holding it. I'm interested to see how they turned out. I figure I won't have a head in the picture or something but that will make it even more special to have something to remember the day by.
Everyone needs to share the outdoors with their children. Most kids now days are hooked on video games, I-pods, cell phones or drugs. The rush you get from catching a big fish or taking a deer far outweighs any artificial high you can ever buy.
I think I talked to you when you were taking your boat out on Sat. you are right your little boy sure was excited. Sure does make it a nice day.
SOUNDS LIKE HE HAD A GOOD TIME THINK I MAY TRY ROUGH AGAIN ABOUT FRIDAY IF ITS NOT TO MUDDY
MAYBE NOT JUST CHECKED CAME UP 5.2 FEET SINCE YESTERDAY AND I THINK ITS NOT DONE LOL DW
Went Friday and Saturday(3/10-3/11). dinks only on Friday. Saturday was much better. Caught quite a few bass even though we spent more time putting in/taking out than fishing. Seemed like every time my father and I got back on the lake the rain and lightning came. Got off the lake several times and still managed to boat a 3-12 and a 4-1. We finally decided to leave and let the other anglers enjoy better weather.LOL I swear it seemed like the rain and lightning were waiting on us every time we put back in. Talked to a few other anglers and most had caught at least 5 or more keepers. Talked w/one guy who also had caught a 4 lber and another guy who had caught several around that mark. It was a great time to do some scouting too with the water still being low and all. Took some pictures and marked a few spots that look like prime real estate for some bigguns once the water gets up to summer pool.
