FIshless
Okay,I have fished the past 2 weekends (rough and KY lake) and have not touched a fish. I have fished points with crankbaits, all the way to the backs of the creeks. I have fished jigs, jerkbaits, even tried lizzards. I know it will turn around for me soon, but I can't seem to put anything together.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-13-06 AT 01:13PM (EST)[p]Hey Greg, are you fishing this weekend? We have a tournament at Barkley this Saturday. This ABA division puts on a great tournament, I was surprised how well it went and the extra things they did with only 17 boats in it. It was a good time, but I am going down Thursday to do some practice because I am going as a boater, but me and Scott will be out there if you want to join, even bringin' the wife with me this weekend so if you want you should fish it. There is a membership fee, but the tournaments are $55 dollars, you can fish any division which each one has like 8 or so tournaments a year, and you take your top 4 in points to qualify for the championship which is going to be held on Kentucky lake this year! But let me know if interested, we also fished at Nolin Sunday, Scott got first, I third on the Cast side. Fishing was tougher there then Ky, but when is it not. No meeting this week because of spring break, but I will keep you posted. --Tight lines (it'll happen)

RE: FIshless
Eric,
I can not fish this weekend, the frame on the boat trailer broke on my home from KY Lake. I am looking for a new crossbar now. The only thing that held it on was one of the boat tie downs and the motor support. I have 4 day's at KY Lake starting the 22nd - 25th of March. BFL
I hope to get down there a few days and try to find some fish, I was going to see about going out with Dave Stewart on the 23rd but the Rules for BFL won't allow it. I need to spend a day with him on KY Lake and see what I am doing wrong down there. I know I can catch fish, it is just killing me right now not finding anything. Sound like you guy's are doing good, way to go!!!! And good luck next weekend.

Gregory: You might want to check out the "Fishing 101" section at www.explorekentuckylake.com I wrote that section last year and it addresses fishing Ky/Barkley during the different seasons of the year and gives suggestions for patterns and lures. Check out the Largemouth Bass part of that section....the patterns we caught fish on this past weekend (and lures) are right there for you to read in the "early prespawn" area.
I would be happy to take you out on a Lake Familiarization trip whenever you can do so without breaking any rules of the tournaments by being out with me. I think the trip I am talking about will help you as it is basically an indepth expansion on the "Fishing 101" article in the LM and SM areas.

RE: FIshless
Thanks Dave for the reply, I have read those 101 articles. I do want to setup a day with you on the Lake. It will need to be before the next BFL LBL tourment on May 6th. The deadline for that tourment is April 18th. So it will need to be on like April 15th if you are open for that day. I will give you a call.

RE: FIshless
Hang in there Big Fella. I hitched up the boat from Frankfort, drove to Cumberland or Dale Hollow to fish all day or all night and came back many a time with a boat load of SKUNK. I even skunked at Dale a couple of Sundays ago during a tourney. Happens to everyone, this is why it is Fishing not Catching. If everyone was guaranteed a 5 pounder every trip we would all be tripping over each other on the water. Spring is just around the corner, Ky, Barkley and Barren will all be giving up the Bigguns soon enough. The chase of the catch is way more work than the actual catch itself. Besides, any day on the water beats a day at work or home doing the Honey-Do List.

RE: FIshless
WE WENT DOWN FRIDAY, AND THREW EVERYHTING BUT A BOMB IN THE WATER. FOUND GOOD WATER TEMP UP NORTH FORK, BUT NO FISH. I HEARD SOME GOOD FISH WHERE CAUGHT SATURDAY ON CRANKBAITS.

RE: FIshless
I had trouble at barkley this weekend too. Just couldn't connect. Even though the temps will be a little cooler next weekend, I am sure that if the fronts settle down during the week the fishing at Barkley and KY Lakes will start to happen even for us not quite so great fishermen!
Happy Fishin'

RE: FIshless
take the bait you have the most confidence in and use it all day everywhere, it might not bee the best advice but i beat you will catch some fish. leave every thing else in the tackel box.
god bless

RE: Fishless
I was fishless as well down at cumberland. Looks like the weather fooled me but it didn't fool the fish. I was cranking points and a lot of shoreline stucture. The water is still down alot.

RE: Fishless
Thanks everyone for replying. I have seen guy,s bring 20+ lbs. Of Bass to the weigh-ins at both lakes. I guess someday I will learn more about how these fish move and feed at diffrent times of the year. OR just get lucky.

RE: Fishless
I would be happy to teach you that whenever you are ready. I had no trouble catching some fish here this weekend. Yesterday on of my client's son got his biggest LM so far: 6.3 and today another client's son got his biggest so far: 5.5. The baits and patterns I am fishing are in my report I posted this past Thursday...now if the wind would lay down just long enough so that I could fish those smallie points.
