    Just watched bass tech this weekend and that was the topic they went over. If your using a puck then you can place it in the back of the boat to the left or right of the motor do not put it directly in the middle, dont know why that was just what they said.. Make sure you sand both the bottom of the boat and use fine sand paper to sand the puck. Mid up you compound and put enough on it to have it ozzzzz out around the edges of the puck. They also showed monuting one of the sonar's on the outside of the boat but it wasn't the puck, it was the other one can't remember the name. It was a very interesting show and was a lot of help. Hope this help's looked very easy to install.

    The one on the outside is called a skimmer. If you fish really shallow the skimmer is better but I agree with the performance if it is on the outside and not to mention it could get damaged easier on the outside.
