just wanted to know what you all think about the skeg protector my skeg is getting scratched up and was thinking of adding one to my 225 optimax

Scratched up? That's what the skeg protector is for. Paint it. The comment I got from a professional is that if you hit something really hard with a skeg protector it will shear off all the lower unit and leave nothing for the pro to weld back to.
Live with the nicks and dings. Just my 2 cents from a pro's advice
