Hey Wormin ....... naw, ain't been to Cedar Creek yet. Only Crappie fishing I've done this year, so far, has been at Weiss - this past weekend. I have heard that they were being caught up shallow, before all this cold stuff came in. And I've also heard that keepers are beginning to show up in numbers. Guess I'll have to sneek down there one day, after it warms up some, and see if the rumors are true ... LOL!!
I did find out one interesting thing about the Crappie in Cedar Creek, though. Last year I fished it a couple of times (from the bank) and caught some Blacknose Crappie (about 5") from there. So ... they must have been part of the restocking brood. Only Black Crappie are in Cedar Creek ... and a Blacknose is just a Black Crappie with a genetic variable that creates a black stripe from the dorsal fin down the nose to the chin. They're not hybrids, or cross bred, they've just got a "birthmark" ...LOL!! They're scrappy fighters, too !! I've caught them from Watts Bar, on numerous occasions. I'd have a 2lb Blacknose mounted (if I ever catch one ...LOL!) .... cp
