Shell crackers limit set

Is the house passing a bill to put a limit on shell crackers i heard that you could only keep 20 a day now. Boy that's going to hurt my fish freezer content.

The "house" didn't have anything to do with it .... but, YES - the 2006 KDFWR Fishing Guide states that Red Ear Sunfish (aka Shellcrackers) are now considered a "game fish" and a 20/day creel & 40/possession limit has been set. There is still no "size limit" on them, though. .........cp

Shellcracker creel limits among new Kentucky fishing regulations

A statewide 20-fish daily limit and 40-fish possession limit on redear sunfish, or shellcracker, is among the new Kentucky fishing regulations for the 2006-07 license year, which began March 1.

The Fish and Wildlife Department classified redear as a sportfish last year. That designation prohibits taking the popular panfish by gigging, bow fishing, spear fishing or commercial fishing. There is no size limit.

What lake do you fish on Decker? Looks like you may have to catch a few crappie to help fill the freezer. I have never fished for them but they look like they would be alot of fun. How do you fish for them? Like crappie?
