ROUGH RIVER BOATING ACCIDENT TODAY

Myself and partner witnessed the accident. I called 911 and talked to the dispatcher. It was an awful accident that is on my mind and the minds of others who were there and assisted in this horrific event.My heart and prayers goes out to the families affected by this incident. The outcome as bad as it was could of been worse if not for the assistance of fellow fisherman and kind hearted people that put theirselves in harms way to assist until the proper emergency personel arrived. It was an accident that could of happened on any lake any time. I do not want to get into great detail about the accident since it is currently under investigation and that I have not yet rendered a statement or have been contacted by the authorites since we left the lake. I was told I would be contacted if they needed anymore information. I will say what happened involved 1 boat and that 2 men were thrown from it. The boat seemed to come up on its side real fast. Not sure if it hit something or caught a boat wake wrong. It happened between cave creek and laurel branch. This is basic information just to let everyone know what Myself and friend saw.I do not think it would be fair to the families or friends of the individuals that were affected for me to get into anymore detail without their permisson. My prayers and thoughts through this tough time are with you.

If anyone has the names of the unfortunate folks in this accident would you please email them to me at [email protected] I have a number of friends and clients that were fishing on Rough yesterday and am worried about them..I have to go to work early this morning, will be wondering all day if I have lost a good friend. God be with the families of these men. People, wear your PFD and hook up that kill switch...how many times do you have to be told?

Like Dave said everyone wear your life jacket. It is important no matter how well you can swim. you can't swim if your knocked out. We all need to pray for his family.

BRUNNER, C. CHARLES III, 47, of Louisville, died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Rough River Lake. He was the owner of Brunner's Lawn Service and a member of Greater Louisville Bowling Association, Kentucky Lawn Maintenance Association, Harrod Creek Bassmasters and a 1977 graduate of Trinity High School. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Paula (Dupin) Brunner; a son, Chuck Brunner; two daughters, Lucie Duncan and Audra Brunner; a granddaughter, Kayla Duncan; his parents, C. Charles Brunner, Jr. and Joyce E. Brunner; a brother, Larry Brunner; two sisters, Karen Chambers (Bill) and Pam Kleine-Kracht (Mike). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1395 Girard Drive. with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday at Arch L. Heady Westport Road Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be made to Trinity High School Scholarship Fund.

Some 20 years ago while fishing a club tournament my partner and I witnessed a 14' jon boat eject 2 guys wearing pfd's and the boat was doing 360's around them. I cranked the big engine and ran to their rescue by crashing my boat into theirs to prevent them from getting hit with their boat or worse yet by a prop. Their boat then ran up on the bank. I'm terribly sorry to hear of the tragedy.
