    RE: plowboy

Oh and most tourney guys are super cool and terrific fisherman. A few that I run into on Barren are disrespectful and that's a shame. Like motoring up on a point (literally on the point) I'm fishing with their girl friend and slamming down their butt seat. I rank this up there with starting up the big motor in the middle of schooling bass.

I do a ton of things wrong too.... I cut off Elnutsmalljaw on the old car bluff not to long ago just to hit a specific spot for a few minutes. I felt absolutely terrible about it and let him know.

As a side note....trolling for a world record is not cheating....ever. Further...I'm 34 and still use the word dude 8^)

I guess the word cheating just hits me wrong. I have alot of respect for most guides and even see most of the pro's that have their own fishing shows use live bait sometimes. It really doesn't take that much creativity to throw a float-n-fly either. Enough said. I'm sure the moderator of this board would rather have more positive post so I'll keep it positive. Good luck. Hope you catch a 7+ on your next trip.

I'll agree with you on that. You just have to find the fish.

    RE: red

I threw everything you can think of in addition to the FNF to try and catch bigger fish. 4lbers are boring when you have a shot at the WR title.

Prior to a few years ago.....I fished the FNF for a long time with a 6' medium rod and pear float. I was shown this technique by a fantastic crappie and bass fisherman in my family.

I threw so many different jerkbaits and weighted crankbaits. I spoke with KVD once about fishing FNF and he said he'd just trick out a jerkbait to do the same thing. When KVD speaks people should listen by now...he's the Tiger Woods of bass fishing.

I would say KVD is tops on my list maybe Clunn second but thats just my opinion. Lots of good anglers out there. Roland and his helicopter lure must be in the top ten.

    March 17-19 Weekend Pig show

Who wants to see a pig?

    http://photos.yahoo.com/thebassman30

A selection of the biggest ones each of us caught. The first two are a 6.2 and a 6.0, then my buddy Alan with a 5.0 and Paul with a 4.8. This was Paul's first trip to Dale....he's officially spoiled.

Nice fish, what kind of boat are you fishing out of? Can't see much of it but it looks aluminum. I wish kept my aluminum boat alot of times. Gas prices are high plus they are much better on the river. We often go to the river in the Summer and fish till noon or the fog burns off. I'm not sure if you have fished the Cumberland River but you have to have a jacket even in the Summer early in the morning. Those trout are alot of fun to watch chase jerk baits the water is so clear. Just a thought. When fishing gets tough at Dale your buddies might enjoy a trip to the river. Fred will fish Dale until June and then switch to the river for the Summer. Nice and cool and plenty of fish including big stripers if your into that.

18' Nova....they don't make them any more. All welded..Johnson 115 2-stroke. 24v Maxim. Perfect for the river. I'm completely self taught and I got my start fishing trout streams wading in the Smokies. I've never stop learning.

I haven't been doing much after I get back from Canada in June.....It get's so hot and night fishing seems to be the only option. I never thought of the river other than Kayaking.

Speaking of Canada...we've still got a couple spots open. Leave May 26th return June 4th out of Louisville. All you need is $500, an RABC and a little gear....game on! We are doing a super easy trip this year....less paddling and more fishing.

    The BIG BASSMAN pig show!!!

Sounds like bassman caught 'em pretty good on Dale (I'm sure every trip is like that for bassman). He's amazing! Maybe we'll see him on tour soon or on ESPN2 with his own show. I can see it now... "Bassman takes over Elite 50" or "Bassman vs. Charlie Moore on Dale Hollow." No live bait though... that's cheating.

I've enjoyed this thread. It's been kind of funny. I'm still waiting for Plowboy to answer the handle question. Just curious. Did I miss the answer?

    RE: smljaw

The handler description for Plowboy was really good. I think he explained it under the guide endorsement for Dave Stewart & Fred McClintock.

You seem like a pretty cool dude....6 trips to Dale in three months....even a blind squirrel is going to find a nut every now in then 8^) I've had lots of 2-3 fish days...this year was special.
