These guys have been fishing Lake Dixon for 5 years in search of the world record, according to the F&S article linked above. They have a freaking book written about their quest.
You think they don't know IGFA rules? They were already at the dock. I'm assuming all they had to do was walk a short distance to have the fish weighed on certified scales ... and yet they did not. WHY?
Why would anyone who thought they had a fish even anywhere close to the world record weight not go the extra few feet, not take an extra 10 minutes to record weight, length and girth?
The burden is on them to prove that their fish is the record. I don't think they have.
