RE: Baits you wish you never bought...

That stupid bait that Bill Dance endorsed about 20 years ago that looks like a big tadpole. Its a plastic bait with one treble hook hanging off the bottom of the round part and has a flat, eel like tail. I never caught a thing with it. Unfortunately I bought two of them and I still have one in the package, unopened! What was that stupid thing called?

Charlie1, I'll bet that bait is a 'Tubby Eel'. I bought one in Tennessee Shad and have met a couple people that have one. It's become kind of a joke, belonging to the 'Tubby EEL' club. None of us have ever caught anything on it, but we've had a million laughs with 'em. :-)

Mine came with an extra snap in tail but the others I've seen are permanently mounted in th body. Big lip for deep diving and one treble hook in the belly. Mine is Tennessee Shad color, at least until I put it in with the Red Shad Slug-Go pack.

I'm glad I didn't buy Roland's helicopter lure or the banjo minnow.

I am sure Buzzking will second that motion on the helicopter lure. He still catches lots of flack for that waste of $30. However it always provides for a good laugh. Cant say much myself though, I did buy a set of banjo minnows when I was a younger pond fishermen. I caught some fish on them in farm ponds but i had retired them by the time I graduated to fishing larger bodies of water. Oh well, we all have to learn our lesson.

    thanks roland

what you talkin bout bassman, i love the helicopter, just a little ahead of its time. Im gonna bring it back this year, it just so happens I still have all of them I bought over 10 years ago, imagine that. Just seen them the other day, gonna get em back out and start whackin the fish on em this year, you just wait and see, so once again thanks roland for such a great bait. Also, I have a friend who bought those kicktail lures, wow what a purchase those were, three baits for 30 bucks, two of them acted like rigomordus had already set in on them and the third come through the water on its side, now thats a purchase.

    Tracy....

You don't like those Fat Free Shad??

Do you have any of the large "citrus Shad" ones? I lost my last one, and can't find them anymore. I've got fish over 6 lbs on this lure. I have a one of the white ones left, lost one the last time I fished. A 15 lb+ drum swam off with it.

This bait had Bill Dance's signature, kind of chartruese on the bottom, and blue on top. Great bait... wish I could find more of them.
