thebassman30 I was just teasing you a little. You seem like a very informed fisherman. Sometimes post don't come across in written text the way they were intended. I'm just a middle of the road fisherman, nowhere near good enough to compete with the tournament guys. I have learned most of what I know about smallmouth movements and patterns from articles in In-fisherman and Bassmaster by Fred McClintock also. No hard feeling and look forward to more post by you. Now that we know each other a bit better I can see where you are coming from. I am pretty opinionated but try to do it in a way to be respectful to others (not sure if it comes across that way). By the way I'm 43, got my screen name "Plowboy" from a buddy that I served with in the Navy . He was from Mississippi and called himself the Mississippi Plowboy on the radio. I was an electronic tech on an aircraft carrier with him. I worked on radar, communications and devices to scramble over the air communications. I guess plowboy makes me sound like a dumb country boy. Anyway I guess I'm a bit jealous of those Canadian trips but one day maybe I'll make it up that way. Good fishin..... and your right I need to be on the water but this night shift really messes with my fishing.

Oh, I don't fly fish anymore - haven't for years and that was in SE Alaska when I lived there for a year back in college days... though that's not THAT long ago - only about 16 years ago after thinking about it - gosh! I guess it is a while ago! LOL! Anyways... haven't fly fished in a long time.

Hey, if anyone here would want to split the cost of a trip (all day @ $275 means about $140 ea. - that covers two people) email me and let me know: [email protected]. Remember though, I'm a newbie and if you're real experienced may end up thinking it's a waste of your time since I'll be learning pretty basic stuff. We'd have to agree on a few dates that would work, then contact Dave to see if there's an opening. I'd be coming from Louisville, so we could split the drive costs too if you're from this area.

Come to think of it... if this were to work out, I'd/we'd be able to afford a trip with both guides! Just a thought.

I really think a trip with a guide would be a great way for me to learn - better than reading books and watching DVDs!

Cool story on the name. I've got several members of my family that have served in the military....almost did myself.....my dad kept me out of that experience.

Nice fish....I've caught a few of those on shiners....yeah...I was cheat'n......My wallet felt like I was buying Lucky Craft Shiners though. $18/dozen is rough.

Auctually they were caught on a worm and senko. A cold front came through the day before and the wind was so high they (bait suppliers) could not cast for shinners. But we still managed a few good fish. The guide has access to private lakes with lots of big fish. But shinners were the game plan we just couldn't find any, sold out before we could get any. Three trips to Florida and three cold fronts. Surely one day I'll get there during stable weather.

I also had the opportunity to fish with Dave one day on Barkley. It was a tough day the fish wernt really willing to bite,Dave stuck a hook in his finger,basically, we had a blast! Dave showed us a lot that helped us the rest of the days we were there and I also learned how to get that hook out. Bottom line is, as soon as I get the chance to do it all again, I definately will. Hopefully I wont have to be schooled on removing hooks again.

I stopped to pickup a couple lake maps this evening and got to meet Dave for the first time in person, we have spoke on the phone a few times to setup a day in April. He is a very friendly guy and always willing to tell you how he did on the lake. I am look forward to my day on the lake with him.
