New River WVA

Going to the New River for the first time the end of next month for Smallmouth. Wanting to take my two man with trolling motor. Any suggestions where to go and what campground? Thinking about around the sandstone/ pipestem area.

If you not nailed down to wanting to take your little 2-man, there is an outfit called Mountain River Tours. They set up rafting trips and also set up float fishing trips. They will guide you down the river allowing you to go thruogh the rapids and put you on fish in betwwen. I beleive they can set it up as a 1-day or 2-day trip. Have always wanted to do this, but have never had the opportunity. There are also golden trout in the New that are really neat.

I've checked out several Guide Services and looks like a great time, but a couple of us are going over for a few days and just scout around and stop here an there. Probably will stay around the Sandstone/Hinton area. Been doing some research and think I've found several holes that can be fished without getting into the rapids. Hope so anyway. Would hate to come through on the bottom of the boat instead of top. LOL. Also there looks to be a lake, Bluestone I beleive. Anybody know about this lake.
