Cedar Creek Report

OK some people didnt like it when I put this on Guist thread. I spent my first day fishing on Cedar 03/27 yeaterday. I must say I was impressed. caught lots of fish on jig and spinnerbait. all fish were largemouth from 2.5 to 4 lbs. Water temp was 47 to 50.5 degrees.

Gettinggone I was just messing with ya, no hard feelings, I'm glad you caught'em, I'm just jealous I wasn't with ya catch'em too, Mark.

I have never fished either lake but would like to some time.

This week on Kentucky Afield they're having their annual fishing call-in show. It would be good if they (KDFWR) would address Cedar Creek Lake and how it has progressed in the eye's of KDFWR as a trophy fishery, and to also ask them what's up with the beach, who's idea was it and why...

What was the water temp. you were catching in? Also how deep were the fish? Is the lake back up? They had it down 5-10 feet to put in a beach. Thought I might give it a try. I would like to catch some nice fish and have some fun doing so.

The lake is at the normal water level and has been for a month or a little more. Have been geting 5 to 10 fish a trip with a good kicker fish in the mix. Front of lake is clear and the creeks have good color to them.

Caught fish all day 47 to 50.5 degrees, fish caught in 3 ft to 12 ft range, spinnerbait fish were suspended in 18 ft water. I am a local only live 35 miles from Cedar. I will be visiting there more often after yesterday. I was told yesterday that it gets better just before spawn. I dont know if I could stand that or not. I dont know if the lake is up or down. Dont have any idea where the usual water line is.

sounds like i know where i will be sunday .i fished it a few times last year and its actually nice there,other then the drive from louisville.still cant understand the need for the beach though at a fishermans lake.whats next pleasure boaters?

Fishgurl - isn't this your home lake so to speak? Heard anything from the locals lately?

It's not really my home lake and I certainly don't know any of the "locals" to hear any reports. Also, I don't really target bass, so probably nobody on this board would care if I did know anything. I think I only fished it 3 or 4 times all last year. Frankly, I'm extremely disappointed with much of what has gone on with Cedar Creek. The beach was kind of a last straw for me. I'll probably fish it some in the future, but I don't think it's going to be a regular thing.
