I am going to Sulphur creek april 7th for a few days. Ive never been there before, is the creek pretty good or should we head out more toward the big water? Fishin for bass in the mornings and evenings and crappie mid day. Thanks.

I would talk to one of the guides on smalljaw.com (these guys hit the lake almost daily and know more about what's going on than most anyone), but I've done well that time of year back in the creeks specifically on the points along the creek channel and in grassy flats. There is some good grass in Sulphur that holds crappie and bluegill. There's a good variety of depth contour and different types of rock to get a feel for what's going on.
I wouldn't be afraid to move up into some of the shallow neighboring creeks like Pulsey and throw jerkbaits and red crankbaits. You might even find a few fish busting shad top water early in the a.m.
