RE: WHAT IF THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN IKE

I for one am glad that ESPN showed the footage because if they hadn't know one would know for sure what happened and it would be all hear say and speculation. As for Ike, I think he got off easy with his punishment from the Classic. They should have DQ'd him for the entire event.

I hate to hear it about KVD and from the interview I read that was conducted with him after the fact he took it graciously.

I have to agree with Dave on this one. KVD knows the rules and there is no excuses. As for as comparing KVD to Ike theres nothing to compare. Ike's tantrams are the sign of the times that are showing up in every part of our society. Our news media as well as the audiance thrives on it. Wake Up America !!!!!!

To add... KVD admitted they went around that bed for a few mins to check out the bass... It's not like they were actually driving by, going to the dock.. VanDam couldve driven if that were the case... He knew what he was doin.. He just didnt expect anyone to say anything

If that was the case---then why did he idle by a fellow competitor? If he didn't want to get caught or thought he was doing something wrong, then he wouldn't have done it out in the open for someone else to see.

More importantly, the class he showed....

In his interviews, he did not insist he was being targeted, he didn't say he was going to call his lawyer... no he said he felt Trip Weldon was just doing his job. He said he felt it probably had to be hard for Trip to come to that decision.

This has much greater implications for KVD that the DQ that IKE got. KVD is now facing a tougher time qualifying for certain events. He isn't crying and moaning though, instead he is saying he just has to keep his head up and work for it.

Also, this was a new rule. If I read the article right last year it was only in competition that the co-angler could not run the big engine, and that it had been changed just this year to include practice. What did KVD say about that? He said something like this, I just did not do a good job understanding the rules, I should have done a better job. He also expressed concern and sympathy for the co-angler who was also DQ'ed. Thank about that poor guy... he pays his entry fees, gets the draw.. fishing with KVD... and boom.. he is sent home.

KVD handled it the right way.

Fishing for spawning bass is totally unethical. I wonder why we have to keep stocking our lakes with fish? Its sad that we cant have natural reproduction taking place because the fish aren’t given the opportunity to spawn.

    RE: KVD disqualified at Santee-Cooper

I would love to see all tournaments OUTLAW fishing for bedding fish. Let's see their real skills during spawning times by fishing for non-bedding fish. Spawns are being hurt all over the country allowing this unethical practice. And please everybody spare me the speach of how a bass can ride around in a livewell for eight hours, stand in line in a plastic bag for 45 minutes put in a holding tank, then released, will go right back to bedding, PLEAAAAASE.
