Was able to get out from 4:30-7:00 today after work. Guy was coming out as I went in who had fished for 3hrs. and had no fish. He even had caught his own shad and tried that to no avail.
Headed out to a good feeder creek on the river. Water in the river was 50, as soon as got into the mouth of the creek it went up to 54. By the time I got to the top of the creek it was 60! As I went up the amount of baitfish was incredible. It was wall to wall baitfish. I saw some bass and smaller fish but I could not get a thing to hit either. Any bass in that creek could have a meal anytime he wanted without hardly moving. I don't believe the fish were biting but then I don't know how much competition I was for millions of shad. It was however intoxicatingly beautiful out though, and that was enough.
Does anyone have any experience on getting bass to hit under these conditions? Thanks for any tips and have a great weekend!

I'm planning on hitting one of the tributaries on Saturday too...What kind of effect do you think the forecasted rain today will have on those tributaries?
The one I'm fishing in the morning will depend on the how widespread the rain is. It takes a lot to get it going, but once it's going look out.
I predict I won't see any big effects down where we'll be...(Elkhorn), but would like to see some clouds in the AM to see what kind of topwater bite I can muster up with some of these deer spun craw patterns.

I haven't fished Elkhorn before, however that's where I'm planning to be Saturday, in the last pool of water before it runs into the Kentucky...the guy I'm going with has fished it plenty although I think it's been awhile since he's been there too...He says bring the same exact tackle, equipment, waders, etc that we use on the Cumberland...if nothing else I look forward to seeing the lay of the land for this body of water...
I'll be down that way around daylight in the AM. Look for an ole Blue Chevy truck and that'll be me....or just give me a call...
