    cumberland walleye

Planning my first walleye trip to C land and taking my ten year old son. Any help on reports or how to catch them would be greatly appreciated.

Talking mid creek to the backs of the creeks. Casting right ON the bank with a crankbait, Fish sundown to sunup.

From fishing for the past few years, it has been proven that walleyes stay in the creeks in the winter. The last PWT tournament showed that they were in the creeks even with cool water so I would assume they are still there if the creek has bait. I have caught them on striper jigs with spinners in the 10 foot range by accident but cannot reproduce the catch pulling rigs when the surface temp is less than 60 in the daytime. Night time fishing for stripers makes sense as to catching walleye as it seems that they are most active at that time. How to catch them with sub 60 water temps with regularity without shad remains a mystery. When the surface temp hits 65 the daytime fishery picks up for all methods do not know why?

Perhaps the alewives spawning at 65 degrees has them shallower than other times of year.
