How's the crappie bite at Wilgreen?
Went down talked to a couple of crappie fisherman tonight(Sun.) They each caught their limit. No big ones. They each said they right up on the bank. 2 ft. of water.
Crappie were on fire Saturday, plain minnows I caught about 50 nothing big but kept the bigger ones for the dinner table. Fish very shallow around any brush and you should catch fish.
This time of the year is best for Wilgreen. Early mornings especially. Last Monday I went crappie fishing...horrible weatehr day...caught 27 crappie. The fishing was good. All caught with minnows 4' depth throwing into main lake.
On Wed. went bass fishing only there about 3 hours had 2 keepers. 13" and 15". Bass taken one on a jig and the other on a spinnerbait. Full of eggs...fish headed to nest.
See you on the water.
Interested in doing some crappie fishing this weekend on Wilagreen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Taking my son after we go turkey hunting
Go up the lake to old town branch, it's the last cut on the right and also the biggest on the lake. Start fishing about 1/4 the way down the left hand bank. Lots of brush in the water. The bank straight across from old town is all so full of brush. Going back up the lake from old town, fish the second cut on your right, you will catch crappie out of this cut. I don't fish for them, but I've seen people smoke-em in these areas. Good luck!
I was thinking about trying Wilgreen myself Saturday. Is there any bait stores close to get some minnows at.
There is live bait at the dock, plus a full service tackle shop.
they have one of the nicest docks in the state, and Katie is very informative, and such a sweetheart, they rent boats, great tackle shop, really nice people.
