I fished the Dix yesterday and was amazed to learn the whites and hybrids had not make their way up into the headwaters by this time. My fishing friend and I caught five eight inch whites and no hybrids all day long. Usually, when the redbuds are blooming you at least catch lost of small whites. I noticed the gar were not moving too. There were some carp but not like in years past. I have fished the Dix every year for the last 50 years and have always caught at least a number of small and a few good whites each year. I am debating whether they are late or have already made their run. KU has been drawning down the lake so I don't know if that has affeced them or not. We also did not graph many larger fish at all, and we went all the way down to the "hog's back." We caught 3 small whites up in Clarks Run but that was it. The surface temperature was between 68 to 73 degrees. The lake at Bryants was slightly muddy but cleared before you got to Rankin'Bottom. I would appreciate any comments. Thanks!
