    Glass Crankin Rods???

Who makes a glass crankin rod? All I can find are light sensitive graphite stuff from Loomis. I do not want graphite. only glass.

    RE: Glass Crankin Rods???

Daiwa brought back their green handle rods this year, they have two 7' glass rods. One is medium and one is medium heavy. I have the medium and like everything about it.

    RE: Glass Crankin Rods???

I have a 7' Lews Crankin' stick that I bought several years ago and I only used it a couple of times so it is like new. I would be glad to part with it if someone is interested. Using a "whippy" glass rod never did click with me for crank baits and it is just taking up space in my rod closet. Email me if interested and I could send pics. Further, I live in the Louisville area but I would be glad to mail it also.

Danny, the site's sluggish right now, but let's talk about that rod you want to get rid of. I've got plenty of plastics including centipedes and lizards. First time I've seen that tackle board, learned something tonight.

St. Croix makes several "crankin rods" in just about all sizes and models. All are a glass/composite and are very, very good. I have 4 of them in different sizes and have had very good luck with them. They are limber, but strong and they won't wear you out like a graphite rod will.

Bass Pro makes a glass rod it is marketed under David Fritz. It is pretty good. I also have a Quarrow that I realy like, but I can't find them anywhere around Louisville. I also have a Silstar but it is real heavy in weight. All in all I don't think there is that much of a difference in the rods. I use them for cranking and love them for that application. Ryan

Not made anymore, but if you can lay hands on a 7' Lews Crankin Stick you'll be set. Limber enough to whip a crank all day without wearing you out, and strong enough to work bigger and small crankbaits.

    Jim, check this out.....

Jim, check out the rod I listed on the Community Tackle Box. Is this the rod you are referring to?

If so, and you are interested, let me know, we could possibly work something out.

    RE: Glass Crankin Rods???

I just went to ebay and did a search on "fiberglass fishing rod" and the result was 43 items. You may or may not want to but any of these, butt, you can look at the items and get brand names from the indiviual ads.

    RE: Glass Crankin Rods???

    Thanks for the reminder...LOL

There are several companies that make 'glass crankin' rods. I have an old one I don't use, not very expensive when I bought it. I don't remember what condition it is in, but think I may list it on the Community Tackle Box later today. If you might be interested after I post the particulars, let me know.

I do believe I've seen Lew's fiberglass rods, and Berkley too, I believe.

I'm sure others will have more to offer.
