I find all this very interesting. Some fishing experts, well most actually, including what I have seen of Doug Hannon on TV, say the ofactory sense of the fish is pretty well developed. But here we have at least two people who remember him catching fish on lures dipped in gasoline. I bet he won't do that again, not at the cost at the pump...LOL... anyway before I digress too far, I can imagine him being "influenced" by his sponsors now. I base that off emails I've had with him regarding line size. He clearly backed up what I remembered him saying about the diameter size of line, yet he specifically reccommended his sponsor's line as being thinner... LOL

Now I don't use scents. I have used them, I have been out fished by folks using scents, so why don't I use them? Well, I got out fished by a friend using "Kicksomebass" scent... I decided I HAD to have some. I bought some, used it for a couple of years, and could not tell any increase in my catch rate. However, I did find a mess in my boat or tackle box if I carried on other's boat. The stuff tends to be very sticky, and it stinks!!

So, I quit using it, and quit carrying it on my boat. However, I fished this year with another guy who was using scent this year. I out fished him, and I had no scent. I do use Garlic Spike IT dye, but for the color, and the fact that I love the smell of garlic. Makes me very hungry when the fish aren't biting actually. LOL
